Some family invited us to go Tubing with their church, who'd planned the trip. We had a great time. We've been to quite a few of the local ski resorts, and went tubing. This place has the best set up for tubing. Despite having a good census, the lines were quick. The staff quickly spotted potential hazard areas, shut down that path, immediately began to address the issue, and then reopened the path, after ensuring it was safe to open. The slides were purposefully made in such a way that those to one side (left in this specific case) catered to the younger, or more timid "tubers". As you went down the various paths, from left to right, there was a clear, progressive escalation in speed,"thrill" experience, and roughness (how bouncy the path was), of each slide. So there was certainly something for everyone.
NOTE: The minimum height to participate was 44 inches, so if you have a young one, they likely will not be able to participate. They also do NOT allow more than one rider at a time, to go down, for safety, and to avoid delays due to riders inevitably falling off the tube, early on. The next rider is not permitted, by staff, to go down, until the previous rider has exited the track completely.
Food - You're going to want to bring your own. As with most tourist attraction locales, this ski resort has an amusement park pricing scale. You don't really have any options once you're on the site, and purchased tickets expire in two hour shifts. So if you're poorly prepared, you could be a captive consumer, paying $4.50 for a bottle of water, versus $0.89 at a gas station.
Attire - If you've forgotten something, there is actually a very reasonably priced ski shop, with items available in most if not all sizes. When I say "reasonably priced", that is not sarcasm. We forgot my daughter's new ski bibs at home ($85), my wife found a pair of equal quality, for $45 dollars, and was in and out of said shop, never having stepped inside previously, in less than 2 mins.
Actual skiing - checking out the slopes, the trails looked to be very beginner to novice friendly. I'm sure their more difficult slopes would require some moderate level of skill, but this is the Appalachian Mountains. Easy mode would probably be the median level of skill any snow ski enthusiast could reasonably expect when skiing "old mountains".
Highly recommended for a fun family day trip or weekend...
Read moreThis is the most aggressive, rude, incompetent restaurant in the entire world. They WILL steal your money and act like you are the problem when you are trying to get your money back for their failures. I did a mobile order last night of 2 qp meals and a happy meal. Picked up and stupidly didn't check the bag. Got home and there was 2 small chicken sandwiches and 10 chicken nuggets in the bag. Called and they were aware of the issue already and said to call back in the morning and speak to Tommy or Brenda. I called this morning and was met with an extremely aggressive person named Jayden saying that she wouldn't tell me when I would be able to speak with a general manager and why didn't I drive 13 miles back to the store after getting home last night to exchange the food. I told her I called and spoke to 2 nice people that both told me it was a simple issue and to just call in the morning. She didn't want to hear anything from me and kept going on about why didn't I come back last night. She WANTED an argument. This is just the latest problem with this place. We have had hair in our food, been ridiculed by the evening manager for a mobile order from "2 HOURS AGO, 2 HOURS AGO." As She kept loudly yelling, repeating it in order to try to embarrass us. That wasn't Jayden, that was the lady with the long braids and colors in her hair that also gets angry if you have a question. These people are SO argumentative. There's no smiling faces or friendly attitudes at all. They are hostile and rude. I'm going to start filming every interaction so that people can see the attitude these people have towards customers. It really is appalling. To get angry with a customer that needs help understanding a receipt or charge is absolutely...
Read moreI was traveling Saturday 06/03/23 and stopped into this restaurant to buy a quick breakfast. After a quick bathroom break I went to the counter (kiosks were all turned off) and was told, “you need to wait” (she was helping with coffee orders). After 5 minutes I asked loudly is this a McDonald’s or not. When the counterperson arrived I told her 5 minutes to place an order and have the kiosks turned off wasn’t good. She said they were short staffed. (During this time the drive-thru attendant said someone drove off because they got tired of waiting) She took the order. About 5 minutes later I get my food from the manager. I commented that this store doesn’t perform like a McDonald’s. She said they were doing their best and I was just being rude. I then asked if they were short staffed why are the kiosks off? She said that they would be slower because the kiosk orders would slow them down. (It was 6:30 am and no other customers were in the store) She proceeded to tell me not to tell her how to do her job. I told her she isn’t meeting McDonald’s corporate expectations and she asked me to leave. This lady hasn’t a clue about customer service. Evidently, this store has not conducted any...
