Let me start by saying the stars are for the server. Staying next door for the night we arrived to this Outback 1 1/2 hours before closing. The host who showed up at the podium was unfriendly, never smiled, and made it seem as if it was a pain to seat us. We saw only two people sitting at the bar and asked if we could sit there but was quickly told no because the bar and booths had not been cleared and we could see dirty dishes everywhere. We were seated at a booth in the main dining room and could see about twenty other guests. The server was slow to get to us but friendly. By then we were ready to order but when trying to do so found out they were out of every veggie except baked potatoes and lettuce. No mashed, no seasonal or mixed veggies, nothing. We ordered two entrees and a couple of appetizers. After an extended time one entree showed up to the table but no other food. After about 10 - 12 minutes the other entree showed up along with the appetizers and sides, all at once! The blooming onion was way over cooked to where it layed almost flat on the dish and was crumbling. There was no effort or pride applied in plating our food and it looked terrible. We didn't ask to speak to the manager but the server, on her own, thought he should come visit us and he turned out to be worthless, didn't care, and provided a list of excuses before we could say one thing. Not sure where they found this manager but he really showed he doesn't care and that is most likely what lead to the lackadaisical attitude of the crew, poor food preparation and presentation, and terrible experience. This is NOT a location we'd recommend and won't visit here again along a road we travel often. Seems others have experienced the same and I can relate nothing has improved when this manager and crew is present. If you don't want to serve folks a decent meal then shut the doors as that seems to have been their only interest...
Read moreWe came to Outback in Beckley, WV this evening. The hostesses were not very organized but we were seat immediately after it took nearly 5 minutes to be acknowledged. The waitress started off great! She was prompt, knowledgeable about menu items, and friendly. Our salads and appetizer came out together and our entrees arrived roughly 3 minutes later. The food was excellent, well seasoned, and the cook on the steaks were perfect. The waitress had disappeared though. We completely finished our meals and waited about ten minutes before she came back. So she was MIA for a solid 30 minutes. Kristina W finally came back. We asked for the check and she offered a go to box. We immediately gave her our payment and she said she would be right back. She ran our card but instead of bringing it straight back she stopped and got the broom and dustpan. She swept out the booths of the empty tables on her way back to our table. She gives us our ticket and said she would be right back with the to go box. Five minutes later we left without our leftovers because she never came back. For a meal that started out so well and was prepared so skillfully, the service we received was an entirely different level. We had left a sizable cash tip but for every minute we wait for the go to box we took back $5. I have never not tipped but I also never had to wait 40 minutes to get out of a restaurant. You might say it was Friday evening and busy, but when we got there and the restaurant was busy our service was wonderful. Most of the restaurant had cleared out by time we left at about 9:20pm. Our ticket has a timestamp of 8:09pm. Things don't add up with the waitress's behavior after the rush started clearing out. Maybe we need to stick with Carryout or DoorDash... the in person experience left us...
Read moreMy son and I took my husband out to Outback for Father’s Day. We got there at 5:11pm. After 15 minutes, I got water with butter in it. Took another 15 minutes for another glass of water. They forgot my salad. They kept bringing out the wrong soda drinks for my husband and son - 1 Dr. Pepper and 1 Coke. They kept getting diet Coke. She had to change the order because she said she put in for filet and mash potatoes for my husband so it would take a while before our steaks came out.
Brought out the steaks and all three were well done- we asked for two mediums and one medium rare. Brought new steaks out again, my salad had literally wilted by this time, they were well done again. Manager came out and said owner would cook the steaks. At 7:30 pm, (2.5 hrs later and the restaurant almost empty) he brought out the steaks again; two of the steaks were cooked almost right and mine was really really well done again.
They offered yet again to try to cook the steaks to medium instead of really well done. We said no. They asked if we wanted a free meal next time. We said no.
They absolutely ruined Father’s Day for my husband and family. He nor my son had eaten all day, waiting on steak. I only had crackers and a protein drink so I was really hungry as well. My husband was so upset he just wanted to come home and forget the day happened. My son and I were disappointed that we didn’t get to do something nice for such a wonderful person and who is supportive...
