IHOP — Restaurant in Beckley

Restaurant was not busy upon arrival Jan 2nd, 2019 and after finishing checking out a customer, we were seated by the cashier/hostess who dropped menus as we were shown to a table. Server was at table moments later asking if we were ready to order when we'd barely had a chance to look at first page of menu. Since we weren't ready to place complete order, she did get our drink order, then turned and knocked the little table size coffee pot on the next table into the floor. (The "dropsies" must've been contagious!) She picked it up and put it back on the table instead of taking in the back to be washed. Unacceptable IHOP!!!

This visit was at the start of an "all you can eat pancakes" special, and I ordered a breakfast combo w/pancakes when our server brought our drinks. Up to this point service was pretty timely, but it's also where it stopped. We sat and waited, and waited, and waited for our orders, while listening to a busboy complain about the servers not helping him, and the servers gossiping about coworkers. Of course by the time we received our orders, our drinks were empty, but were refilled timely. While we were eating, 4-5 more parties arrived and were seated and I pondered how long they'd be waiting for their orders. Our server never returned to inquire if I'd like additional pancakes as part of the special and when she finally did return it was to bring our check. By this time I figured I'd be twenty minutes waiting on additional pancakes and it wasn't worth it to me, especially since the food I'd been served was "meh" at best.

Considering the slow service, meh food, and not knowing if anything on our table had been picked up off the floor prior to our arrival there, I don't think I'll be returning to this IHOP! Would've rated with zero...

All iHOP’s are generally cheaper in kid cutter outfits. It’s just a matter of if they have been week maintenanced, maintained and kept up. The deciding factor of course for one is the food (ie can they cook) and two and the most important factor is the people; staff. Anyone with proper training can serve food and serve food and be attentive very well. What can not be taught are the personalities of these individuals. Each person collectively different and fun, bouncy attentive and carrying on customer relationships in their each and own unique and individual ways. You don’t want everyone the same and you have to have a key manager who knows what qualities to look for in these hires so as to not have a staff off all the same person and who knows that even with good days and bad just like the rest of the public that these individuals don’t let it show and run off on the public or their performance nor do they let it show as a reflection of the company themselves. I applaud these people for their hard work and dedication in the food service industry and personally would like to thank each and every one of you because even though a gratuity is most welcomed sometimes I’ve been told by the individuals themselves it’s nice just to hear someone utter...

While traveling through West Virginia, I had gotten to my hotel in Beckley, WV and was settling in for the night. I was a little hungry, I looked next door and there was a IHOP. I haven’t been to a IHOP for a while. So I walk on over looking forward to some IHOP goodness. I was friendly greeted by the hostess, she asked if it was dining alone & my seating preference. Your seating options here will be booth or table, I always choose a table. My waitress was over quickly to take my drink order, she was unbelievably pleasant & polite. We spoke for a few minutes about where I was from & the beckley area. She then took my food order & said she’d have my drinks to me shortly. I went with the classic bacon cheeseburger & side of pancakes. My waitress had my drinks out quickly & my food out was right behind it. In true IHOP fashion my bacon cheeseburger burger was just awesome, consistency is IHOP’s superpower. Of course the pancakes were perfect, like dessert after the cheeseburger. The atmosphere was very calm and refreshing, definitely made enjoying my meal easy. I must say that the entire staff here were impressive, so polite, friendly & professional. I know for a fact that the next time I’m down this way I will definitely dine here again,...
