Where do you go when you want a great Mexican street taco and you are in the mid-cities? Do you dream of street tacos that you ordered in a town on the Texas-Mexico border? Remember that roadside stand that you couldn't wait to try and then the Mexican Gods smiled down upon you once you took the first bite? My wife was visiting her mom who lives nearby and always brings me a treat from El Paisa. I order and she drives through. Am I the luckiest guy ever?? Yep!
Always order corn tortillas with either carnitas and/or barbacoa (cow head meat).
5/5 barbocoa street tacos with moist meaty juicy goodness. Squeeze some lime w onions and cilantro. If u must add salsa Rosa and devour. Three bites.
5/5 carnitas street tacos. Do lime, cilantro onions eat and repeat. Amazing really. So simple but so good.
4/5 Enchilada platter. Beef. Topped with Smokey red sauce and a drizzle of creama. Beans are Smokey and comforting. Rice is perfectly fluffy and warm. Top with shredded lettuce, cheese and pico if you want to be the obnoxious Gringo. Dive in and imagine how lucky you are.
3/5 green salsa. It's ok....taste the green tomatillos and jalapeño. Slightly bitter but perfect for the balance of acid.
4/5 salsa Rosa. Great hit of salty spiciness w a hint of smokiness.
4/5 pico. Not as spicy as some places but very authentic. Not heavily drenched in lime.
3/5 ambiance. I would give it a 5+ but I know many that would not delight many fellow yelpers. This is the shabby mex feel that I so love and adds to the overall experience.
5/5 service and authentic experience this side of Mexico.
5/5 drive through so my wife can grab and drive home fast because I can't wait!
This is not a Tex-mex place. No chimichangas. Thank God.
We have been going here for over 10 years and will continue another 20! They have several locations...
Read moreI moved to Bedford & I’m from deep Dallas where you can find great Mexican food around the corner. Not many choices here in HEB area when it comes to authentic Mexican food. My husband’s from this area & knew of this little place and we decided to give it a shot. TBH… it was not bad at all, did not disappoint. It’s more of a Tex-Mex which is fine with me. We ate lunch and the food was fresh and pretty good not bad. I had the combination plate and my husband had different meat tacos. Just don’t expect fresh made beans here they are canned. Other than that I have nothing bad to say. The tacos were decent for the location. Needed a bit more seasoning. Still not bad. They offer aguas frescas , which I had the limo and it was also good. Prices are decent for the amount of food you get. The lady taking our order was really nice. Place is very clean to sit and enjoy your food. They also have a drive thru. This place is family friendly. Over all I will be going back and try...
Read moreThe outdoor property was clean. I used the drive-thru to eat at home. The lady that took my order was very nice and made me feel welcome. Like most Mexican restaurants, all the combo plates had more food than one person should eat. For me to get only one taco and only one enchilada with beans and rice, I had to order ale carte. Those food items all tasted very good. I wanted only a few chips and pico de gallo but got a large box of chips with a very spicy liquid sauce instead. When I got home, I made my own salsa of fresh tomatoes, onion and cilantro...and threw out theirs. The Mexican Coke in a bottle was delicious as always. I spent $15 for everything. It would be more ideal to offer smaller combo plates for children and seniors at $7.00 with small amount of complimentary chips. Seniors are usually on a restricted diet and budget and shouldn't be forced to spend more for larger quantities than they can eat. I do recommend the taco, cheese enchilada,...
