PapaG's Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Bedford

I've been to this place twice with my partner in crime. The first visit was ok. Cheap drinks, adequate service, but the smoke is horrible in this place. I can tolerate some smoke, but this was too much.

On the second visit, we decided to sit outside, but at the bar to avoid the smoke. The bartender was too focused on regulars and we ended up sitting for several minutes with empty glasses in front of us.....which we then scooted across the bar and closer to her as a subtle hint that service is required. This bartender also didn't even have the decency to place our drinks in front of us and we had to reach across the bar to get them. But she made sure to reach and stretch to place others drinks in front of them.

We decided to take our drinks and sit at one of the patio tables. The gentleman that checks ID's at the door seemed to be keeping an eye on us as he left his spot at the front door and stood on the patio watching us. Subtlety is not his strong suit. Whatever the reasoning, it made for a tense and uncomfortable, not to mention unwelcome, feeling.

I'm a major proponent of tipping and tipping well when service is excellent. I have to say this was the first time in a very long time that I left without paying a tip. I was kind, polite and more patient than I should have been with such poor service so there was no reason for her to be so rude nor was there any reason for the doorman to watch us.

This place could use a hefty dose of John Taffer...

Management is weak!!! This was the first time in my 30 years of visiting local bars, all over the world I might add... that I have NEVER been physically attacked by any staff member at any bar. I was grabbed around my neck and drug for 5-10 ft apparently because I was in the estimate of this individual Jason, TO SLOW PAYING my tab, and his words... "getting the hell out so we can go home" I really enjoyed my night up the that point. But now I feel uncomfortable returning, fearing a similar incident, but more so that I may get attitude from this guy Jason. I am an extremely respectful person, and can appreciate a person trying to do their job. I just don't see what I did to warrant this aggressive behavior??? I guess business is so good that you really don't need the business of a local business professional at your establishment. It's funny... how a person can have a really great experience for 3 hours, and have it all ruined in 2 minutes. Thanks to my excellent bar staff... Meeka, and Alex. Great job ladies. This bar in particulate is quite toxic, and pollutive. There are millions of carcinogens floating around the air due to the poor smoke ventilation, the cigarettes begin to create a thick hazy fog of , dear I say, Cancer...... ): I went to enjoy a game of pool and I began to observe the layouts technology and it is very archaic. Without proper ventilation everyone is prone to air- toxins that can damage everyone in the vicinity.

After 30 minutes of pool, I went home to find that all of my clothes had a deep scent of cigarettes that was embedded into the fabric, I have came to the conclusion that if we truly want to live longer as a human, you must remove all toxicity's from the biological system due to the harmful free radicals that contaminate the oxygen. I an not a certified Physician but my inner instincts tell me if I were to continue going into bars with smoke my life expectancy will be cut by 1/3 due to the damage of the cellular structure. I hope my review has opened some eyes to a deep meaning of what it means to live life to...
