Disappointing Experience at Perry’s Nut House

Today marked our first visit to Perry's Nut House, a familiar landmark we had always observed but never entered until now. Regrettably, our experience left much to be desired. Despite the posted closing time of 5:00 PM, we encountered an unexpected disappointment when we found out that the fudge had already been put away at 4:15 PM.

Furthermore, the staff member's unfavorable attitude added to our dissatisfaction. In a tourist-centric destination like Perry's Nut House, where impressions are crucial, encountering such early closures and unwelcoming behavior can create a negative perception for visitors from around the world.

While we acknowledge that individual experiences may vary, our hope is that this review serves as constructive feedback for Perry's Nut House to uphold its reputation as a welcoming and accommodating tourist...

Used to be THE place to go when I was a kid, but people have given up on maintaining the little Shop and the prices are outrageous, almost $16 for a lb of fudge, and a little over $5 for half of a pound of gummy bears that you can buy online and pay the same price for 5lbs...it's THE definition of a tourist trap. It was also the only place I have gotten sass for my choice of fudge, they give you a choice of one free sample of fudge and I chose the Orange Cream one, the person who was serving the fudge kept mocking me "This is kiddie fudge", the person I brought with me picked Butter Rum and the server said "That's adult fudge!" There was no need for the rudeness. The only reason I didn't give it one star was because I still have good childhood memories of coming here, but those memories are quickly being replaced by the idea that this place is simply a tourist trap and...

My family has been going to Perry's Nuthouse all the way back to my grandma's childhood. We wanted our new family to be the 4th generation! We were extremely disappointed to see the Trump flag outside. As a queer, mixed race family we instantly did not feel safe. However, we decided to still give it a try. It's a family tradition! The store is very different even from just two years ago. It is sparse and has odd things for sale, like cheap plastic 3D printed toys. We also had a very odd, creepy interaction with one employee and had to leave at that point. Not even a chance to get fudge! Needless to say we are very bummed and will not be back. And I'm unsure if I should ruin my grandmother's memories of this place by...

Here's the deal with Perry's Nut House - it's one of those roadside tourist stops that lots of people clearly have deep memories and connections to and that is super great for them (for real!) and if that's not you but then it mostly maybe just feels weird. It's got your typical postcards and t-shirts and kid toys and weird bees nests and stuff like that and before I go any further the rumors of no bathrooms ARE TRUE so if that's the only reason you're stopping now you don't need to. Perry's Nut House also doesn't have many nuts! Very limited selection! What the heck? There is a fudge counter and I got some fudge and it's pretty good roadside fudge. Not bad. Anyway that's Perry's.

Great store, was glad I took the time to check out this great store. I loved the general atmosphere of the store. You never knew what you were going to find in the various rooms, including a stuffed gorilla, seagull, alligator and more. They had a great selection of homemade fudge . They even offered a free sample to try. A great store to bring kids . I was also impressed that they had polished rocks native to Maine as well as lots of moxie merchandise. I would highly recommend checking this place out, was worth the drive.

Pulled into their parking lot and was surprised to see so many signs supporting tRump for president. Why would a business get involved in politics - especially supporting someone who incited a violent attempted coup on the US capital and was agreeable to hanging his VP? What are they doing over there, drinking bleach? Will never return!
