Not only does Hidalgo have the most authentic and delicious food on their menu their staff is always friendly, and professional. My husband grew up in Arizona and has tried several other Mexican restaurants here in Michigan, but he always goes back to Hidalgo where there is the most authentic tasting food like what he grew up with his friends parents making in their homes. The price of their menu is plenty afordable and their involvement with the community is far above the others. The Establishment is clean and always family-friendly. We highly recommend if you have not yet tried Hidalgo Mexican restaurant that you do so today. My favorite, the chicken chimichanga. And you have to try the fresh made chips and fresh made salsa. They remind him of sitting in his friends kitchen eating the ones that were made by the women of the house on a daily basis... He's tried to get the recipe but Tony won't if it up 🇲🇽🌯🍸 . I can't say that I blame him I suppose it is a trademark having such an awesome recipe that nobody can copy. Bring the family the atmosphere is fine. Bring a date you won't regret it or have them cater your special event everybody will be happy with the food. It is Rosie the Riveter approved and and in this community Rosie lives on.... This I know as recently I held a surprise party for the local chapter president of ARRA with half of the restaurant packed full of original Rosie the RIveters from the Willow Run bomber plant each and everyone enjoyed their meal and the atmosphere. That is not an easy task when your age ranges with the caregivers through the Rosies from their...
Read moreStaff was friendly, but seemed very young and not experienced in the service industry. They didn't check in on us to refresh drinks or chips. Speaking of chips...normal Mexican restaurants give you a basket of chips. Technically they were in a basket, all 6 of those bland little triangles. Bland seems to be the standard here tho. If you're Wonder bread white and have never had Mexican before you might like Hidalgo, but if you aren't you'll be sadly disappointed. Taco bell is more authentic and has better flavor. Maybe it's because I had the vegan option. The one vegan option. On their site they say they're vegan and vegetarian friendly but their rice is made with chicken stock and their gauc has sour cream. Not sure why they feel the need to introduce animal products to plant based staples, but they do and still highlight their being "vegan friendly". By the high bar Hidalgo sets for that term any restaurant that simply has iceberg lettuce and tomatoes could be considered "vegan friendly". If you're vegan or veggie stay away. They clearly are just using buzzwords on their site to attract more customers. And, unless taco bell and del taco are too spicy and "Mexican" I'd avoid this joint. Pretty sure whoever is in charge of the menu has never had actual Mexican food, simply Googled it and found a way to make something that...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to!!!! They serve Mexican food but there is nothing authentic about it! First and foremost the chips came out of a sandwich bag cold and was enough for one person, There was three of us! When I asked for more chips they never came. A small nacho cost $7 and it came on a saucer with even less chips and a small portion of beef(way more chip than beef)! Beans didn’t have any flavor. I immediately returned my meal and asked for it to be taken off the bill while the rest of my party ate. My daughter didn’t like her food either it was a waste. My husband ate his fried tacos. When the waitress brought the bill it still had the small nacho on it. So I go up to the counter where you pay for your meal and told the waitress that it wasn’t taken off. The manager then tells her in front of me that she should’ve told her that the food was sent back. Then the manger tell me that they don’t give refunds and the best she could do is charge me half for food I didn’t eat. If you’re wanting authentic Mexican food don’t go here! If your want good American style Mexican food you’re better off going to Taco Bell, Del Taco, or making it at...
