update 05/12/25 -
We stopped by here around 6:30 pm on Monday, and it was quite empty (30% full). I got the black sesame ramen and hubby got the wagyu one. We also ordered a calamari appetizer, but it came after our noodles lol.
The pieces of calamari were big, but the dipping sauce is just the chicken sauce from Asian grocery stores. It's quite disappointing and I've never seen anyone using it as a dipping sauce other than for Vietnamese spring rolls.
The black sesame ramen was a bit underwhelming as the soup is basically just their original soup with tons of black saseme powder lol. The wagyu was good, but I found it oily and the portion is small.
Definitely won't recommend the black sesame ramen.. I think maybe that's the same thing for pesto ramen too. They just mix the original soup with pesto sauce.
new sushi and ramen spot in Bellevue -
We came here slightly before noon on Sat, and we were the first one here. Shortly two other groups came and we all went in at noon. The store kept most of the setup from kuro sushi, but I think they upgraded the lighting as it seems brighter(?).
Room temperature water without ice were served quickly, and we ordered the original tonkatsu ramen for $16 and hubby got the red spicy ramen for $17. We also ordered a tempura mix appetizer for $11 as well. Hubby asked for firm noodles and I asked for less sodium soup. While they don't show it on the menu, it seems that they are able to modify them for us. I'm guessing they didn't want to put it on the menu to make things more complicated as they are actually more of a sushi place.
Our ramen came right out after 5-7 min, and they were small but mighty. Mine came with woodwar mushroom, green onion, half soft-boiled egg, and two pieces of char-siu. I tried hubby's soup and it's way too spicy for me with a strong aftertaste kick, so I won't recommend it if you ain't a fan of spicy food.
The tempura comes with 2 pieces of shrimp, a piece of yam, asparagus, broccoli, onion, and pumpkin. They were all delicious.
The price is on par with other ramen places in Bellevue, and the portion is similar as well. I do think their noodle portion is slightly bigger though. The char-siu was slightly thicker and more flavorful and fatty. When we left, the store was almost full. It looks like they have a good business these days.
PS. Lunch specials are only available Monday to Friday! It looks like a lot of people want to order this on the weekend but...
Read moreI'm not sure why it has such high reviews, . I think a lot of the reviews are mainly from family and friends of the owner which is why they all claim its the best, and people saying it's on par with food in Japan What kind of food were they eating in Japan??? This is definitely not even close to it, maybe if you got food from a family restaurant in Japan, but even konbini food was better than this. maybe because if you leave a review you get a free drink with your meal that's why it has high reviews. but this is definitely not as great as it seems. I would say it's good if you want something above instant ramen or grocery store sushi. But definitely not worth the price. The rice for the sushi felt like it was old rice it was hard and the fish itself was warm. The ramen wasn't very good and either and even my friend who doesn't eat ramen often and dosent have high standards said it wasn't good. I know it's hard to find good Japanese food in Bellevue and Seattle because many restaurants open to be on the trend of japanese food and it's easy to make money off of it. But I would definitely avoid going here if you have some standards on Japanese food taste. Service was good though so no problem there, just the food itself is bad. If you actually want good sushi I love sushi in Bellevue is good, or a few restaurants in Green lake area or seattle are good. Also there is already an 18% service charge on the bill so be careful, I ended up tipping extra 25% on top of the automatic tip charge which I didn't realize was on there because they don't make any mention anywhere about it. I always tip well because I worked in restaurants before, so I don't mind. But I think it's very deceptive, BUT this is not why I wrote the review. The review is purely on the food itself. Was I disappointed when I found out after about the hidden service charge, I was but, I hope it at least fully goes to the servers so they can at least get paid a little more. My main point is please dont eat here if you actually like Japanese food and don't want to be disappointed for your lunch/ dinner. If you look at the other lower star reviews a lot of people mention that the reviews are definitely fake and the food...
Read moreJust tried Ramen Nori with a friend yesterday (Sunday). I'd been meaning to try it for a while and I'll say I'm pretty impressed with their sushi and hand rolls, but the tonkotsu ramen (I got the spicy variant) was really lacking flavor. It was just fine, but I thoroughly enjoyed their various unagi rolls and temaki. I'll definitely be going back, and may try the Wagyu Shoyu ramen next time and will absolutely be ordering sushi.
Worth a try, but the tonkotsu is a pass for me (and I LOVE tonkotsu normally).
Servers were great and very attentive, sake price was pretty insane for the amount you get but that's pretty normal (the yuzu was amazing!). We arrived 10 minutes before dinner and had no wait, so that's a plus as well, though I'm sure they're busier on days other than Sundays. Parking was easy on this day, but it can be really awful at times. The lot gets crazy busy with Mercury's flagship store, particularly on Thursdays.
Edited to add: Portion sizes were very generous for both the ramen and sushi! So that was a plus, despite not really loving the ramen itself. I was pleasantly surprised, and definitely felt I got plenty of food for...
