Been in the same location for almost 20 years and the quality, or lack there of, has remained consistently average at best. Ordered the Tuna steak sandwich w/fries, my wife ordered ribs w/onion rings and macaroni and cheese, with an order of cheese curds for an appetizer. The curds were quite good actually... my sandwich was underwhelming to say the least. Almost no flavor, at all, too much mayo or whatever it was, lettuce and tomatoe... both the sandwich and fries were just really boring. To make it worse, the tuna steak had a large strap of fat or cartilage through the middle of it that ruined it for me. My wife's ribs were dry with ok flavor. It was obvious to me that these had been made days previously and were sitting in a cooler, and we're simply reheated per order. Not a bad flavor, so she said, but the fact that they were reheated ruined them. Her onion rings were bad.... no nice way to say it. I tried one and couldn't finish it or get the taste out of my mouth. They tasted like they were fried in old oil. The macaroni and cheese was ok.... again, zero flavor to the point where it was obvious they weren't even trying to be unique or brave enough to create a dish with some flair. The atmosphere was ok, typical southwest motif you'd expect to find at a place called Tucson's. The server was pleasant enough, not rude, not smiling, and over the top either... I'm guessing she was tired from a long day, or something else was on her mind. She was just indifferent. The experience felt familiar and served to remind me once again why we don't go there more often. It wasn't our first choice for dinner, and all of this confirmed why that...
Read moreThis place was a favorite of our family's, but after our latest experience on Saturday I'm definitely not planning to go back. Our server didn't give any kind of effort, was bothered when we asked for things like silverware and extra napkins, and when we received our food, let's just say, it was less than ideal. Before I go into that though, I mentioned to the person delivering our food that I didn't get my salad and I asked for it to be taken off my bill. A few minutes later, the server came back, gave me attitude about not getting my salad, and wanted to give it to me as I was eating my meal. I said no. Then, she said I could take it home. No thanks. Now back to the meal, my husband had one bite of his, my son had a few bites of his, and I ate about half of mine. Decided it wasn't worth the effort to complain about anything, just had it boxed up, we got the bill, and left. Fast forward to the next day, my entire family didn't feel well, so, it appears we got food poisoning. That was my tipping point, called the restaurant, talked to the manager on duty--who was very nice and apologetic--she took my name and number to give the general manager who was going to call me back. Still haven't received a phone call and it's now Thursday, so in turn, leaving this review. One thing to note, the bartender was efficient and poured a...
Read moreMeh. Not horrible, but not very good. The food is so-so, the margaritas are horrible (wasn’t given a drink menu), the lighting is so dim I had to use my phone’s flashlight to read the menu, and we saw seniors with canes seated on a raised platform.
Next time we’ll drive down to Taco Burrito Mexico where we can get better food for less.
I had the portobello fajitas and they were excellent, but it was a small portion for the $16 price. The regular margarita was sticky sweet, clearly from an off-the-shelf high-fructose corn syrup mixer. The banana margarita was so sweet, it was completely undrinkable. The waiter saw I didn’t touch it, didn’t ask about it and didn’t offer a refund. My daughter got the wet diablo burrito and it was “meh” - the tomato was hot, the onion was in big, cold chunks, and the sauce was really salty, but the ground beef was okay and the sides of black beans and rice were excellent. Chips were good. Salsa was flavorful, but had no spice and no hot sauce was offered. Service was...
