Read more(Long review)I really wanted to like this place. The three stars is for the prompt and friendly service by our waitress. Total time from waiting until we finished eating was two hours, the first hour was just the wait time from when we joined the wait-list on Yelp. I believe that the wait time of a restaurant always sets the tone for the experience. I'm ok with waiting an hour, however, the hostess (can be given more things to do instead of just looking lost) has the job of letting the customers know what the wait times are or it will be longer than expected. Yes, the app can tell us this but it eases the mind knowing a human knows you're waiting. I noticed that there is no sense of urgency by the employees that are supposed to clean and get tables ready for the next customer. It took them about 15 to clean and set up some tables of a large party that left. At one point the restaurant looked half empty while we still waited. I think that the speed of your employees needs to vastly improve. The music was too loud although the type of music was good. When we finally sat down, our tables still had water spills on them so I asked one of the guys(waiter/bus buy, not sure) to please wipe the table down. So he goes and comes back with a second person who says it's just water marks on the table so he doesn't wipe it down, I can clearly see there's water so i ask him to hand me the towel to do it myself! Luckily, the guy I asked first had some sense and quickly took the towel and wiped the table. Anyway, I could go on but on to the food. The french toast was probably the best part of my meal, I asked for the toppings on the side. As my dish, I had the chilaquiles verdes with pork. The green sauce was too sour in my opinion and the pork pieces were too big and fatty. The coffee was a bit too bitter for my taste. When we were ready to pay, we were double charged for two of the meals, the waitress was nice and corrected her error. Overall, I am not sure I would return to this place and I wouldn't have anyone I know visit this restaurant either unless they have like 3 hours to spare. Something to note is that they do have signs on all of the tables stating they're going through a soft opening which sounds like an excuse for their longer than expected wait times to make up for some of the lazy employees they have...
Read moreNot a place I'd go back to. Parking in their lot is a little challenging, but we were able to find street parking pretty easily. The server we had was very nice and attentive which is the only reason I gave them 2 stars. The eggs were light and fluffy yet not runny. Pretty much perfect. It all goes downhill after that. The grits.... they are called grits because they are supposed to be gritty. They decided to cook the with whipping cream thereby making them almost like mash potatoes. That's not even the worse part... they made the grits super sweet. In all fairness the server did warn that they are a little on the sweet side, but I think a better warning would have been, "Dude, they are super sweet, these are not normal grits". Their bacon, I know there are some people who like dry bacon where it's super crispy... I am not one of them. I'm just gonna say I never in my life seen bacon with no grease whatsoever on it. I didnt even have to lick my fingers to clean them up. If you making bacon and they have no grease on them, you doing something horribly wrong to bacon. What they call fries most people call breakfast potatoes which is what I expected, but these fries were as dry as the bacon. Hard, dry potatoes... I had to order a side of gravy to try and help them out. My attempt was futile as these "fries" were so dry it was like trying to bring flavor to a rock. Lastly, I ordered a side of french toast. They gave me a thin 4" high piece of toast on a tiny little saucer. It wouldnt have been too bad but that syrup tasted like diet syrup or one of those syrups that advertise no sugar or half the sugar. How hard is it to get some real syrup? I'll leave on a positive note: My wife enjoyed her...
