Jalapeños Meridian — Restaurant in Bellingham

We are very excited to have a Jalapeno's on this side of town. This location has a small interior and no patio, however, our waiter did mention they have discussed plans to add on in the summer. Their chili con queso and margs were delightful! However the food & service were disappointing.

This was our 2nd visit to a Jalapeno's location in Bellingham, the first being to the downtown location. We had a poor experience there, but wanted to give another location a try, as we've gotten a couple of recommendations from friends.

This location reportedly just opened on the Wednesday before our visit on Saturday, so I'm hoping they were just working out some "kinks". Our waiter started out great, he had a welcoming personality, but lacked in service. As he was refilling my water I asked him for more ice, he didn't get much into my glass from the pitcher and rather than offer to bring a glass of ice, he just said, sorry I tried. I ordered a chicken enchilada and asked for it to be topped with chili con queso, no other sauce, as their menu offers "top ANYTHING with chili con queso" $5. When he brought my food out, it was topped with a red sauce, no queso. He said he got confused by my order (yet didn't make an attempt to clarify). He offered to remake it or take it off the check, rather than wait for a new meal to be made, I decided to make do. When the check was delivered, the meal was still on the receipt, awkward, but since he blatantly offered to remove it, I decided to call it to his attention. He came back to the table and went to "correct" it. After being gone about 20 min, he finally brought the receipt back and said here, I removed half of the cost??! We visited the newest & 4th Bellingham location of Jalapenos for their annual Thanksgiving event. They give the public a generous 50% off when paying cash on the day before Thanksgiving each year.

We decided to try their newest location, just north of Walmart on Guide Meridian. I can see how popular this location could be with Lynden residents and those traveling down from Canada. Very easy to find and get to.

I recognized one of the staff members from another location & it was so many years ago that I saw her. To me, it shows what a great place it is to work if they keep so many of their staff. I know many have worked there for close to a decade or more. I love that.

Food: I tried the mango habanero margarita. Loved it. Sweet at first and then the heat kicks in. We got their queso with chorizo (always great), enchiladas, and their pork carnitas with two kinds of beans instead of rice and refried beans. Everything was big portions and tasty.

The atmosphere is fun and lively, just like their other locations. We saw a table with a young boy who ordered the "biggest burrito in Bellingham" and it's even bigger than you're picturing right now. Something the whole table could have split if they wanted to.

Was really disappointed with the service at this location. Came to celebrate a birthday, was initially greeted by a very nice woman, who said it would be 10 minutes before they could seat my party of 10. I waited outside for the rest of my party to arrive before reentering. The woman who then greeted us was very rude to the people in my party, when I explained I had just talked to someone, she walked away and came back to seat us. Unfortunately this woman was our server for the evening. She was not friendly in the slightest. When we asked for water's we were told all the glasses were dirty... Had to ask for silverware, had to get up and find someone to ask for refills on chips and salsa, which we would then have to reask when it wasn't brought to us. Overall probably the worst service I've ever had at any Jalapeños location. We had 4 children in our party and we never recieved the icecream from the kids menu, was asked while walking out about not having icecream, and I told them it was never offered.
