Joe's Bagel and Grill — Restaurant in Belmar

My office and I gave up going to this restaurant a while back because of the attitude that we were met with and the issues with uncooked chicken and wilted mixed greens in the salad but decided to give it another chance today. Today was an unpleasant surprise even in comparison to the past encounters.

My coworker and I ordered Rumson wraps and since I am a vegetarian who leans towards vegan and am also lactose-intolerant I asked for mine to have the cheese to be subbed out for onions and the chicken to be subbed out for mushrooms which they said was fine over the phone. I received my order and ate half of the wrap with no issues, but half way through I discovered there was chicken and cheese in the end of the wrap. I spat out the bite that I had taken that had the chicken and cheese in it and I called to inform them that there was chicken and cheese towards the end of the wrap and they offered to have it made again if I wanted to bring it in so that they could bring the mistake to the cook's attention. I brought it in, thinking that they would at least let the cook know and even if they didn't remake the wrap they would be aware and not make the mistake again.

When I got there they brought the wrap back to show the cook, they then brought it back out to me saying that I ate most of it and that they could have it made again but with a lot of attitude. The cook then came out and said that he made it himself and that there was no chicken or cheese in the wrap at all, although there clearly was. I showed them where it was and the cook said "well someone put that in there because I made it myself and there was no chicken or cheese in it." I assured him that I did not put the chicken or cheese in the wrap and that it was in there initially but he just turned away, clearly aggravated and went back to the kitchen. The woman who had been nice initially and offered to have the wrap remade now seemed very standoffish and said that since I ate most of it she could technically have it remade but since there really wasn't that much cheese and chicken in it that it would be pointless and that it would be at least 15 minuets. I ended up leaving because my integrity had been questioned too many times, the cook may have spat in my food if I had it remade, and I was aggravated at this point because I initially didn't even call to have it remade but rather wanted them to be aware and they insinuated that I was lying in an attempt to get more food. I was more disappointed in the way that I was treated than anything else.

My coworker's chicken was also chewy and undercooked but she ate her wrap anyway, not wanting to go through the trouble of being met with an attitude for bringing up a mistake.

Needless to say, we will not be visiting this restaurant again and suggest that you stay away as well unless you're okay with getting an attitude if anything at all goes wrong...

I am going to post this everywhere they will let me write a review. Joe’s Bagels is great!! But don’t be fooled.. they are not all the same. The Joe’s in Belmar is by far more superior of any Joe’s in the area (especially sea girt). Let me tell you this crazy story… Today’s was my daughters 2nd birthday party. We live basically across the street from Sea Girt place so we ordered two 3 foot hero’s a few days earlier. We were forced to do it online because no one answered the phone. We receive a confirmation and the money was taken out of our account. Fast forward to THE DAY OF. We receive a text message(NO phone call ) a TEXT message saying that they couldn’t fulfill the order and the money was put back into our account. WHAT?!! we were then scrambling at 7:30 am to find out what happened and then also figure out how we were going to feed our guests. We did not know that are privately owned franchises so I called the Belmar store while my wife called Sea Girt. A wonderful manager named Jenn answered the phone AND my prayers. She assured me that what they did to us was completely unacceptable and the SHE would fix it. She didn’t have to, this wasn’t her store or issue. She sprang into action, let me explain my order, how many people and assured me they would take care of it. Not only did she do that, while honoring the original price, they added bagels and spreads and offered to take it to the location of the party. We were floored by this business etiquette. From now on we will be driving a few more blocks out of our way to go to belmar.

I hope this story reaches enough people AND sea girt so that they can step up their game and be more...

Omg... food to perfection... I catered for a family event... everything from placing the order to delivery to the excellent food was perfect.. everyone complimented on how great the food was. I ordered the morning star.. Great combination of delicious food. I would definitely recommend Joe's Bagel and Grill... and definitely will be ordering from them again. Thank you for making our day that much special with your delicious food

UPDATE SECOND TIME STILL A CHARM I was so pleased with the food and service that I used Joe's Bagel and Grill for the 2nd time... I catered/ordered the lunch menu #2, which came with 5 different sandwiches/wraps and 2 salads.. I added the fruit salad. My family absolutely loved everything... The food was fresh and delicious.
