King's Chef — Restaurant in Belmar

tried for the first time in the 20 years that I live here based on several recommendations recently. First of all, I went there for a menu, place was extremely clean! 5 stars automatically for this. Secondly the woman at the counter was very friendly and helpful ( I showed her a pic of something my hunny wanted and she knew exactly what it was) Took the menu, went home, we reviewed it and ordered. Large hot and sour soup, very nicely prepared, veg all chopped up, made it easy to eat and was delicious. Pork lo mean also nicely prepared and tasty. General Tso's Shrimp special dish. Nice large shrimp, great taste, nice size portion. Lastly Hot and spicy Beef. (from the photo). Very good, he added some of their homemade hot mustard for even more kick. Not from this area but my girlfriend lives in Spring Lake and while staying with her, we had a hankering for Chinese food. She recommended this place for take-out.

The woman who works here is extremely friendly and to be honest, that's the thing that keeps customers like me coming back.

Got two combination platters for dinner. One was Kung Pao chicken and the other was peanut chicken (which a lot of Chinese restaurants don't offer). The food was very, very good. The egg roll was exceptional.

Used to order from here all the time because the food was consistently good, however the last few times I ordered it was overshadowed by the absolutely insane delivery time. Was told 35-40 minutes and it took over an hour+. Then the last time it took 2 hours... despite countless calls, being told it was on the way, etc. I was livid. I'm a local, and despite never having a complaint about the food... I'll never order from them again. Neither time was a Saturday night during the summer, and either way-there was just no excuse. They didn't comp anything, offer a discount, nothing. Just kept saying it...
