Never even realize this bar ever existed my cousin took me there because he said it was very alive with a lot of people they had a humongous selection of whiskey which was really cool they have a kitchen with food unfortunately we ate beforehand but I saw other people order food didn't look bad there's a bar outside and inside karaoke I guess on some days they have a stage a good mix of people parking is a little difficult but it's right next to the train station so you can just take the train there if you would like didn't stay very long just had a few beers and left and I had my first real whiskey sour with egg whites most bars I go to when I ask for a whiskey sour they always tell me they don't have egg whites and I never knew what that meant but now that I've had the real whiskey sour it was amazing don't want that cheap version no more all the bartenders are extremely friendly and very knowledgeable of the whiskey they were selling definitely recommend checking this place out thank you for taking the time to read my review 😎
Went by myself and had a very horrible time experience racism even though the cooks were Latino and the bartenders were Latino the drunks sitting at the bar thought it was funny to make racial slurs towards me I will never go back to this place ever again don't recommend it to anybody else
I thought my experience was one of a kind but after going down the comments and looking this bar is definitely racist people if you're colored and not whitewash I don't recommend coming here because if they don't think you're white enough you can't come here so many comments of people being turned away because the color of their skin Belmont is a racist town don't get me wrong not everybody but this place is definitely owned by racist people and the minorities at work here shame on you for agreeing with these racist owners please don't bring your business here ever go somewhere else not worth the time or effort and most their food is frozen or pre-made...
Read moreSt. James Gate is a super unique dive bar with a tiki bar twist, offering a fun and casual atmosphere with plenty of themed seating areas to explore. The layout is really cool—some of the tiki seating is open-air, which makes for a refreshing experience, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind when it’s raining (as we unfortunately found out the hard way).
They have a great dance floor with live music, a well-stocked bar, and even a pool table, which adds to the entertainment. We grabbed a few drinks from the tiki bar, and while the drinks themselves were pretty good, the bartender seemed a little weird about us walking over to scope out a table before deciding where to sit. He gave off a bit of a pressured vibe about staying in one spot if we wanted him specifically to make our drinks, which was a little odd.
One big plus—they have heat lamps in the tiki section, so even on colder nights, you’re comfortable outside. Unfortunately, while we were playing pool, we did have an encounter with a creepy guy who was making inappropriate comments toward me. Thankfully, when I brought it up to the bartender, he acted quickly and handled the situation professionally, which I really appreciated.
Overall, St. James Gate has a great vibe, caters to an older crowd, and offers a solid selection of drinks and food at reasonable prices. The quirky themed areas, live music, and relaxed tiki energy make it a fun spot to check out, though there are definitely some small service kinks to be aware of. Would I come back? Yes! Just maybe not on a...
Read moreWe have visited twice for dinner and a live band performance (Hairstrike, who are absolutely fantastic!) and had wonderful experience both times. The food was great. I ordered the Keto Cheeseburger Bowl, which was cooked to order. Fresh veg, great dressing options. I’ve also had the grilled artichoke heart appetizer, which is excellent. There is an indoor pub-type bar area with seating, a stage, and a dance floor area. It fills up nicely after 9. The ambiance is lively and fun. There is also an outdoor tiki-bar style area with fire pits. It is really a great option depending on your mood during your visit.
However, with all those positives, the service is a real highlight! We had the pleasure of being served by Teresa on both of our visits. She is friendly, warm, and genuinely cares about her customers. She made an extra effort to make sure we felt welcomed and was careful in taking our orders to ensure accuracy. Even when things were very busy, Teresa checked on us regularly throughout the evening to make sure we had everything we needed, as well as to remove empty plates and glasses. We always felt well-attended to, and never had to look for her to order anything. And all of this exemplary service and attention came with Teresa’s bright warm smile. She is the rare gem of person that makes you want to write an online review to make sure the management and customers of St. James Gate knows how fantastic she is! p.s. The bathrooms were...
