Little back story….I made a reservation via OpenTable for 2 @1:45 on a Saturday. Apparently they close @2pm and re open @5 pm. Was celebrating a family member so it was a special occasion! We had to be in Halfmoon Bay by 3:20 after lunch.
Edgar the owner called me @1:55 we were stuck in traffic getting there and I let him know we were close by. By the time we arrived it was already 2:10 and they were cleaning and prepping for reopening @5 pm. Edgar let me know they were closed and that he was sorry but he did call me! Ugh traffic!
I was stressing trying to find a place close by so we could have lunch but still make it to Halfmoon Bay on time. Edgar walked outta the restaurant to us accross the street (must have seen us looking on our phones for places). We asked him if he knew a place to get a hearty delicious salad close by that wouldn’t take much time…. He so generously said just come in and I’ll serve you both! WOW!!!
The salad was AMAZING! We both ordered the Farmhouse Salad with grilled chicken it was seasoned perfectly and dressed perfectly as well and the portions were very generous!! His staff was FANTASTIC too so caring and attentive even though they were closing and trying to prepare for reopening later.
I was able to scan the menu after ordering and the choices all looked sooo delicious!! Can’t wait to try more next time I’m in town!
Thank you Edgar and staff for that you all are AMAZING with the service and food! We made it to Halfmoon Bay by 3:15.

Read moreMassive disappointment. Well, not because of the food but because of the overall experience. It was a hot summer evening, so we specifically chose to eat indoors (rather than the patio). Well, not only was it crammed and stuffy, but the temperature was actually hotter than the outside. Either ther A/C was broken or the capacity wasn't enough. We were genuinely miserable throughout the entire dining experience.
In addition to it being hot, the tables are crammed so it gets really noisy. Not because others are being obnoxious but just because of the population density. Also, I have no idea why they use table covers that are oversized. It sort of drapers on your lap and forms this heat chamber underneath the table, making it even more unbearable.
Food wasn't bad. Fresh ingredients. The salad was great. The bread was tasty with olive bits. Herb butter was bright. And I'm probably missing on other culinary highlights but again, none of this matters when you can't focus on the food.
As we exited with misery, the open air of the patio felt so cool and fresh, on a hot summer evening. I'm so disappointed our experience turned out this way. I was looking forward to Farm House for such a long time. Perhaps we may give it another shot for...
Read moreExpensive for pretty basic food and the nice ambiance is ruined by bad acoustics and illogical seating choices. I went with a friend late at night, the place was mostly empty but they asked if we had a reservation in a way that made it seem like we wouldn't be able to eat if we didn't. Then they wanted to seat is right next to other people at a tiny table because it already had silverware and all the other tables didn't (lazy? Trying to be efficient? ... Not sure) Anyway, the food was good but unimpressive. The butter lettuce and blue cheese salad had high quality lettuce but lots of overly sweet cranberries and way too much sweet dressing --- not creative, not great. The Oxtail did not fall off the bone like it should. The scalloped potatoes needed salt (and I don't usually like salty food, so it was like the recipe called for it and they just forgot to add it). There were also some carrots. $55 (I also got a lemonade that was undrinkable) and they didn't even smile when I said goodnight, they just wanted us to leave. Lame. I think you'll be fine if you keep your expectations low and don't care about paying a lot for boring food. Cute decorations and nice...
