This was my first time visiting Belmont and my first time visiting Jailhouse. I joined an old friend who is local to the area and we wanted to grab a cigar and a drink to catch up. He is a member at Jailhouse and raved about the place, saying I would love it. We arrived around 9:30pm and unfortunately the woman working at the desk/computer turned us away, saying it was too crowded upstairs inside the bar. She seemed a bit short with us, almost aggravated. My buddy then tells her that we only want to go inside to purchase a cigar and then we'll go back outside to the picnic tables and fire, which seemed like a really nice setup. She still wouldn't allow us to enter and offered no suggestions or recommendations in terms of when we might be allowed to enter. At the very least, you would have expected them to offer the opportunity to have a staff member complete our purchase. We were completely content with simply staying outside to smoke the cigar. This was really an unfortunate experience and my buddy felt terrible about it. I might give it another try should I ever visit Belmont again as I suspect the owners would not knowingly turn away business. This is probably just a case of an employee having a bad day or not knowing how to...
Read moreLet me start by saying the place is nice. Now. They charge membership fee of $2 a day or $12 a year which I'm totally cool with. Beer prices are ok, cigar prices are aweful. I am an avid cigar conasour and I arrived here to smoke a cigar and drink some beer. After waiting 20 mins past their advertised opening time they finally opened the doors. I checked out the tiny humidor and got a beer and proceeded downstairs to the smoking room. I got comfortable and was ready to light my stogie when I noticed and sign that read. $5 cut fee for bringing in my own stick. Are you F*ING kidding me? What are the benefits of paying and membership fee if I can't smoke my own stick without paying you $5. You my friend have some big balls. I downed my beer paid my tab and I will never return to this establishment. I would have smoked my cigar and drank 4 or 5 beers and tipped the bartender well. Instead you will get nothing from me and my friends. Terrible business decision on...
Read moreOk, first off this place has no reason to indicate it's a cigar bar. We came in Saturday night and upon entry we stopped by the humidor which was no more than a humidified room of nothing. Maybe 8 boxes of basic cigars to choose from. They were busy but we got lucky and were able to grab a table for the 4 of us. Oh boy let's just say that the poor girl that was our server had no idea what day it was. She couldn't tell me anything about their cocktails let alone a single bourbon. Since there was no bourbon menu we ordered standard cocktails. Took our drinks and sticks down to the smoking lounge where we were met with the most awful filtration system ever. That thing just roars at you nonstop. We won't be back. Vintage was much more the atmosphere we were...
