My daughter said it best-"Good, but I miss the old stuff." The old owners retired, and the new owners are family members. They have updated the inside of the restaurant. There are some excellent additions. I have now been there twice since they have changed. We have tried the Bulgogi Bento Box, several sushi options, Mild Ramen, Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, and the Chicken, Beef, and Pork Happy Family Platter. The Happy Family Platter was fine. Their egg rolls were fine. My family liked the Ramen. We added Chicken and held the cheese. I like my noodles a lot more al dente, but everyone else thought it was great. The Bulgogi meat is very similar to what used to be served, but there is no Kimchi. The Kimchi vegetables add flavor and interest to Bulgogi. Without it -just meat and rice. No spice, and not nearly as good. They have changed their salad dressing, AND they have changed to a California Roll. I miss their Kimchi, old salad dressing (the new one is TOO SWEET), and Kimbap. Their Kung Pau is meat, a couple of dried peppers that didn't seem to be cooked, and peanuts. I expect Kung Pau to be a little spicy. This was not. It was sweet. The sauce was good but sweet, and it was only meat and peanuts. No vegetables. Nothing seems to have vegetables, and everything seems to be sweet. My daughter used to LOVE their Kimbap. Their California Roll is fine. It's fresh and a good roll, but their Kimbap was awesome. Finally, the most significant item I miss on their menu is their Bibimbap. They had the best that I have had, and now it is no longer on the menu. The people working there are very polite, and currently, they use great carry-out containers. They are thoughtful and pack everything nicely. They even help carry it to the car, but their food just isn't as good as...
Read moreNice cozy misplaced Asian food in the HEB parking lot shopping center. I had Sesame Chicken with fried rice, my son had a Bulgagi Bento Box. The food was absolutely delicious. It felt homemade and I ate every bite I could fit! My son ate every bite in his box. The server was great, however there are some shortcomings!
No Sweet Tea and no Dr. Pepper - both were on the menu. I really did not want water and considered leaving before I tried their food. I settled on water this time. And no I do not like nor want Coca Cola products.
The price. I saw it in other reviews so I wasn't sticker shocked per say but I also did not expect to spend over $50 for two people who had water to drink. I know the economy is bad, but I did not remove stars, I just had to pretend I was in a fancy restaurant instead of one in a shopping center.
$2.99 ($3 upcharge) for fried rice instead of white rice. I was a little disappointed, but I will say that damn rice was absolutely to die for. Best $3 I've spent in a while.
So in summary, great dad gum food. I'll probably come back but can't afford to often. Maybe to go and I get my own drinks?
Sesame Chicken was that super rare freshly made and cooked barely crispy kind, I've only had it like that at one other place and I went to them for 12 years until I moved here.
Lastly, salads come with the meals, serve them while...
Read moreMy wife chose this place for dinner last night. I was skeptical at first. Looking at it from the outside was not too impressive, but all that faded away once we entered the restaurant. We were greeted by multiple employees. I immediately noticed the decor and the wonderful sound of silence. We sat at a booth and ordered drinks. I was very impressed with their extensive menu, so many options! As an appetizer, we had the Gyoza and Edamame. The Gyoza or dumplings were fried to a golden crisp and very flavorful. For my entree, I chose the spicy pork Bento Box. It was a wonderful sample of several items such as 4pc California roll, Miso soup (served prior to entree), 2ea dumplings, shrimp and veggie tempura, rice, and salad. The spicy pork was outstanding. It had a nice kick without being too much, and a tiny bit sweet. My family will definitely be back very soon and will recommend this place to all...
