If you're craving authentic Italian, downtown Belton's Napoli's Italian Bistro, with its locally crafted food, is worth checking out. My husband and I had a late lunch there on a Sunday afternoon and we pretty much enjoyed our experience. Its quiet atmosphere, due to few patrons, made it ideal for conversation, and the friendly and attentive staff provided good service. I was quite surprised to find the restaurant larger inside than I had imagined, and I found it to be a unique place.
While our entrees were a little slow in arriving, the wait wasn't unreasonable. With so few diners, we didn't anticipate a delay in receiving our food.
I had the Cheese Ravioli and the portion was smaller than I expected. You get three large cheese stuffed raviolis smothered in sauce. Despite being somewhat over-salted, the piping hot dish was pleasant and satisfying.
My husband had the Spaghetti Meatball. Despite finding it salty as well, he mostly enjoyed his dish.
OUR CONS: The restaurant had some issues with cleanliness, specifically the tables, the floor under our booth, and menus. Our server gave us menus that were so dirty with crusted, dried food, they felt rough and were off-putting. We found the entrees to be too salty. I prefer my food without an overpowering salty taste. The chef should definitely reduce the salt in these dishes. Finally, credit/debit card payments incur an additional percentage fee. I strongly dislike this business practice. Especially when it's not publicized beforehand, like on their website, etc. Few people pay in cash any more and credit/debit cards are just part of doing business.
Despite some negative experiences, I'd still recommend it for its authentic Italian food and good service. This unique restaurant boasts a truly wonderful and friendly staff, and the food is worth trying. But be sure to bring cash if you do not want to pay...
Read moreWe're there on our anniversary for dinner. We got b4 6pm Sunday. Not many table there4 you assume the waitress will PAY ATTENTION (MAMBI with eyeglasses on and long braided hairs). I showed her the actual picture that I want to order (thru online) and a side of rice, since my dish requires rice and doesnt have any starch She agreed and all, but when I got my dishes I was shocked. She handed me a dish that I DIDN'T order except the rice. I got dish with pasta and chickens. I told her multiple times i didn't order and I can't eat that since there'll be too much starch. She said I still can eat it with rice and I said no I can't it has too much starch. Then she said if starch is my issues she can make the cook remove the pastas (sounded like all I'm getting is chicken with the same sauce), I said no you can remove them from me. Then she said won't I try it and if I don't like it, she'll make the cook make me something else. She's forcing me to do what she wants ME to do, not what I want her to do (is to listen, open her ears not her mouth). So the more she forced things, the more I'm getting aggravated and loosing my appetite. I made her remove those plates. She grabbed them and she hit my hand with my dish plate when she SUDDENLY grabbed them WITHOUT apologizing. Her attitude went from nice to un nice, since I was looking at her face/movements. My husband ate his dish and I'm just there sitting in front of him, he's NOT a happy camper. The manager came to our table and I told him what had happened and bout her attitude. Manager did his best to make up for me after what had happened. There's NOTHING that he can do for me since I had lost my appetite, respect to that place. BTW her piece of braided hairs went in the middle of our table WTH. She needs to tie her hairs, it's...
Read moreI thought that having a nice Italian meal would be a good idea, even though I have had a great time when they first opened, and it eventually became not so good as the years rolled on. One more chance I thougt...one more chance.
Well, the place was packed, and I expected it to take some time, but over 10 minutes to be acknowledged by staff when entering, then having no one come over to ask for drinks for another 10 minutes, then the person never came back, then 10 more minutes and another staff member finally came to ask for drinks.
It then took 10 more minutes to get them, and we finally ordered our food. All this time, another member of staff was serving the table in front of us and was the original server that never came back with our drinks. I asked repeatedly for the rolls that come with the meal and they showed up after we received our appetizer.
The appetizer was good, the rolls when they finally appeared were also tasty, and then we got the soup we ordered, and no spoons. When our mains came 10 minutes later, we had to ask for the spoons and after another long wait, we received them...iced tea spoons, not soup spoons.
My main was supposed to be veal, usually I have received a piece of veal, not a processed veal patty and spaghetti that looked like it was sitting under a heat lamp for a while before being served to me.
The booths are not anchored down, so the people behind me who had no control of their child, spilled a soda all over their table and floor, and ended up pushing their seat back pushing me into my table. My experience there took almost two hours, far too long.
All-in-all, never will go back.....nope,...
