EDIT: Went here on 7/26/19, and was met with a MUCH different experience. The pizza was fresh (even at 830pm)and quite excellent, and the staff was showing signs of improvement. Shout out to the thin fella with the tattoos and groomed beard wearing a blue shirt. Sorry I failed to get your name and position there, but I'm guessing you are a shift leader or something similar. Anyway, he was very professional and courteous, and clearly seems to be working the rest of the staff towards improvement. My family and I were impressed with what we seen tonight, and look forward to coming back again. Still holding out one star, because there is still room for improvement, but good on you guys for making progress!
I'm really not sure what has happened to this place over the years. Been coming here off and on the better part of 20 years, maybe more. I guess like many places, the faces change, and by default so does the experience if the management isn't strong enough. I feel like staff education on the menu as well as the business model has always been lacking, but it seems to get worse with time. Tonight my family stopped in for slices, and we were told no toppings were able to be added. Like uh what? You are a pizza shop that sells slices. What do you mean you can't add toppings? I can't recall all the many times I have tried to place an order and they were out of things or literally didn't know they offered a particular sandwich or food, even when guided through thier own menu. I've had online orders cancelled after waiting for them... Then there was the time they charged me MORE for calling in and order over the grub hub price, and argued with me about it... All in all, if you can get what you order out of these people, the food isn't bad. 2 stars for decent food, but lose 3 for having never showed me any concept of good...
Read moreOrdered 3 slices of pizza, a chicken finger platter, 2 cans of soda and a bottle of water. Before ordering, we were looking at the pizza that was displayed, and asked the girl what kind they were. She asked the tall bigger lanky guy. (I guess he was the cook, not quite sure cause he was the only one that didn't look like he was doing much of anything.) I placed my order....and was asked what kind of sauce with the chicken fingers and if I wanted the platter or just the fingers. I turn to my 13 year old cause it was for her. She wanted the platter. Ok...perfect. So we go to sit down, to barely finding a table because they were all dirty. Two minutes after sitting, our slices are brought out. Not hot, but warm enough. So we begin eating our slices, right after adding some seasoning. The hot sauce was completely empty and the parmesean cheese was so compacted at the bottom, looking as if it was never rotated. We were sitting and talking. A little while longer, my daughter says to me,"Are they going to bring me my food?" I figured chicken fingers take longer, but let me ask. I go to the counter, and to find out the chicken fingers and fries were NEVER put in. The tall guy was nothing but rude, along with looking unprofessional and to put nicely, a slob. He had no customer service leader skills. The one counter girl said she heard me order it, and didn't know why it wasn't put in. There is very VERY poor/bad customer service. Overpriced for couple slices of pizza. No gloves or face coverings worn. Beards not covered. Definitely not sanitary. I WILL NOT be a returning customer nor are my family and friends. This place Champs IS NOT worth the money or aggravation. Take my advice and...
Read moreI usually like this place, but went in today with a friend and, ordered a cheese steak hoagie mini, and 1 regular sized. My friend wanted his toppings placed on the side. When we received the order, it was prepared backwards. They had placed my toppings on the side and he had no toppings at all. At this point, i was left with putting my sandwich together, while the server took my friends basket and returned with his toppings on the side. Now, what really made me annoyed was that, in reviewing my bill, i had been charged an extra dollar for lettuce, an extra dollar for tomatoes. An extra dollar for banana peppers and 50 cent for fried onion, none of which i was informed of when placing my order. I can understand being charged 50 cent each, for the small containers that the fried onions and banana peppers were placed in, but $1 each for lettuce and tomatoes being laid in the basket, on the side, was a bit much. No extra ingredients was given, it was the complement that would have been on the sandwich. Also, $1 for a tiny side of banana peppers, that anywhere else is 50 cents, is just a ripoff. It's things like this, that sour people from continuing to patronizing a business. I don't have a problem paying what is fair for the products and services received, but when putting some lettuce and tomato on the side of a sandwich instead of on the top, without any additional packaging, or effort, costs $2 additional dollars, it's time to go somewhere where moving one's arm a half inch over...
