Stopped in with my elderly mother for a quick bite to eat (lunch). The nice part is the price point is extremely affordable. The lunch portion size of meals (can’t speak for sandwiches) was the perfect size. It’s definitely a smaller establishment so if you are in a rush, I would suggest going elsewhere.
I ordered mom a meatloaf and mashed potatoes(lunch size). Truly this was the perfect size for her, since she usually will not eat too much. To start, I ordered a small tossed salad. Just your every day run of the mill iceberg lettuce, cucumber slices, carrots and tomato. Two pieces of delicious rye bread with butter also appeared when the salad arrived. For my meal I order the lunch portion schnitzel with German potato salad. Since I had a hard time making up my mind which side I wanted, I also ordered a red cabbage side. The red cabbage was absolutely delicious. It had a nice sweet taste. I wanted the German potato salad to have a little bit more vinegar. Overall, for the price of 7.50 for the schnitzel and $1.50 for the extra side I would say it was a great lunch. I would recommend the red cabbage if I were to order this again.
As for the service, There was only one waitress working the dining room . While we were sitting there, a few extra tables came in. So there would be times when she was off taking other people’s orders or bringing out meals. In no way is this a complaint, just part of my experience on the day we were there.
The restaurant definitely has a special atmosphere reminiscent of a small country restaurant you would go to...
Read moreThe inside is super homey, in fact I forgot how much so, since I had been there in a while. We live in the area and keep saying we needed to go back because when my husband and I were there years ago we loved it. Went in with a couple friends on a weekday around 10 am. We were seated right away and looked at the breakfast menu over coffee, which was very good. The waitress took our order and my friends both ordered cheese omelets with spinach. When they arrived, we all found it strange that creamed spinach was used, rather than fresh spinach and that the omelets were literally stuffed with the stuff. So much so, they had to use a spoon to scoop it all out. I had the tomato feta omelet,, which was very good, but about 1/3 the size of the other two. It was a bit disappointing, because I was waving about the place to my friends. It was just adequate; nothing great. Maybe dinner there is better. Wish we were all more impressed. Prices were great and service was...
Read moreStopped here for breakfast since my usual spot was closed for vacation. What a pleasant surprise I did. The breakfast was delicious and not pricey. The staff was friendly and only forgot my hot sauce for my eggs but brought it out quickly when I reminded them a second time. It was a Buffalo wing sauce and wished they had Tabasco or Challula but that is ok. I will be back again to try their lunch and dinner. The outside is run down and inside is full of pictures and decorations to keep you looking around till your food arrives. It had a nice crowd coming and going which is a good sign. Just to add - I stopped in for dinner and it was equally good. My son did not care much for the sauerkraut and said it tasted like rye bread. We figured it might be from the caraway seeds in it. Needles to say he finished the whole bowl and said it...
