The food here is usually very good but the owner is rude and aggressive. My friend and I went on eat here on a Saturday. My friend drove from an hour but the food on previous visits was worth it. On our last visit we had burratta as our appetizer. It was warm gooey breaded cheese in a sea of warm marinara sauce. It reminded me of a delicious fancy mozzarella stick, just made with a softer cheese. So good. This last visit we ordered one burratta for each if us and both came out cold in the center. We were confused as last time it had been warm thru the whole cheese ball. To be clear we cut the burratta open realized it was cold and waited go ask the waiter to heat it up. Neither one of us ate a bite. The waiter said he would ask the chef and came back in a few moments and told us the burratta was meant to be cold. We told him that was fine but we didn't want it like that and last time it was warm. The waiter apologized and explained there was a new chef. He took the burratta away and brought it back slightly warmer but the middle was still cold. We told him we were sorry but this was not something we could eat. We still had not taken any bites as the burratta was not meeting the expectations set by our last visit. No worries we thought the entrees would be great. My friends osobucco and risotto comes out and my vodka rigatoni came out. Unfortunately the osobucco was tough and the risotto was slightly crunchy. At this point we just asked for to go containers and the check. Our waiter came back with the container and took a credit card to pay. When we got the check to sign we realized they charged us for the burratta. We told the waiter and he seemed really nervous to go fix this but honestly we really didn't want to pay for something we couldn't eat. The waiter said okay and went back to fix the bill. When he came back out the owner came out with him. The owner is a tall big guy and he came out with a scowl on his face clearly ready to argue. The started aggressively and loudly telling us that the burratta was perfect and he had just had some in the back. We tried to say were sorry as last time we were here the burratta had been warm so we expected it to be warm this time, but the owner angrily said DON'T COME BACK. The owner took this situation from bad to worse. He was aggressive and rude. The owner is the reason I will never go back. The food here is usually good, the waitstaff is great, but the owner is ignorant.
UPDATE: The owner's wife has responded to my review and I just wanted to add that feeling bad about your actions isn't an apology. The owner was aggressive and rude. I get that he was having a bad day, everyone has bad days. Bad days don't exonerate you of your actions. If your bad day causes you to treat others unkindly then you apologize.
Update 2 The owner's wife has updated the response to include an apology. I cant say I will be going back as I hate to be yelled at, but I appreciate the apology. Everyone has bad days, this was just...
Read moreAbsolutely awful. I made the reservation a week in advance at which time I spoke to the owner who said he was looking forward to seeing us the following week and not once did he say that the time I requested was too late.
We were a party of six hoping to have a nice enjoyable dinner. The friend that we were celebrating a birthday for had been there quite some time ago and raved about the place.
So she decided that is where she would like her birthday celebration to be. When we arrived for our Saturday night 7:30 pm reservation the dinning room was full and our table was ready.
Shortly after ordering appetizers the restaurant was just about empty, I said to the group this is not good we are going to be rushed.
The server told us the specials and said that there was only one of the pork chop specials left, with that my husband said to please hold that for him. Three of us decided on the veal entree only to be told the veal was not medallions as listed on the menu. One server was kind enough to tell us it was a large piece of veal and not to expect it to be tender in any way. I said I would pass on the veal and would like the gnocchi, I was told no gnocchi, my third choice ended up being Chicken Piccata which was described as chicken medallions with lemon, white wine, capers and garlic butter sauce. I was served an extremely thick piece of chicken breast that seemed to be boiled in a pot of water along with the pasta that was served with it, no taste at all.
My husband's Pork Chop special was a thin boned in chop that looked like it was cooked in the microwave it was grey in color.
The person that decided to stay with the veal dish was served as stated a large piece of breaded dark meat veal with what looked like a can of tomato paste thrown on top of it.
The friend that was there prior ask the server where the owner was, he replied in the back room and I do not think you want to go in there.
Needless to say it was a very disappointing night for all.
We are people that go out to eat three to four times a week, we do not go to chain restaurants and like to support privately own business. We definitely know the difference between good and bad quality food.
I would hope that our dissatisfaction was eventually relayed to the owner and that he will take the measures needed to get his restaurant back on track.
There is way to much competition to not be on top of your business.
The one person that ordered a cup of coffee is still...
Read moreI have visited this restaurant numerous times and had previously rated it 5 stars. The food was always delicious and the wait staff has always been friendly. On my most recent visit there my friend and I ordered our favorites like we usually do and they didn't meet the standard as set by our previous visits. The burrata special, which is a deed fried cheese ball similar to a mozzarella stick came out cold in the middle. We informed our waiter assuming that it had been undercooked and asking for him to warm it up for us. When he returned he told us that there was a new chef and that it was supposed to be served cold now. Unfortunately, we could not eat it like this, we apologized and asked him to take it back. You can see more detail on the disappointments of the rest of meal in my friends review. Unfortunately, at this point we decided to just have our entrees packed to go, not wanting to send back a main dish and trying to support a local business. It was after taking my credit card that the bill was brought and I saw that we had mistakenly been charged for the burrata. When our waiter went to fix the issue the owner came back to our table with him and loudly told us/yelled that there was nothing wrong with the burrata and that we were to "NEVER COME BACK". He created a scene in the middle of his own restaurant, when we were just trying to pay and leave. Unfortunately, dispute my numerous good experiences and history of patronage in the past I won't ever be returning to Annabellas. Hopefully to owner can get his temper in check or he's going to be loosing a lot...
