My colleague recommended this place to me and this was my experience today...
It was late afternoon, not quite the dinner crowd yet. I heard that it was BYOB, so I came prepared. Before I walked in, I noticed a sign on the door regarding applying for their alcohol permit. When I walked in, the room was open and semi-dimmed. I could see the bar area waiting to be utilized and just plain open space. I walked up to the podium and was immediately seated. When I sat down, I noticed that the table was covered in white paper. On top of the table, they had a roll of paper towels and an empty tin bucket (for the shells). Staff also provided a bib and gloves for the meal.
The waitress was nice and accommodating. She kindly got a glass for my beverage and water as requested. The menu provided is very easy to read and follow. It is only two sides. One side has the steamed options, which is divided by the different seafood, followed by the sauce and the level of spiciness. They also have different combos listed and extra side dishes on the bottom. On the other side, they have the fried baskets and soups listed.
I ordered the gumbo, and headless shrimp and snow crab combo with 1/2 lb of craw fish with garlic butter sauce and mild heat. The gumbo came out first. It was okay. It wasn't like the gumbo from New Orleans, but it wasn't bad. As I was finishing up the gumbo, the shellfish came out. All of the fish, plus red potatoes and corn were in a tall bag. The waitress undid the bag and left it on the table for me to consume.
I put on my bib and gloves and went to work. First, I tried the shrimp. The shell was loosened and all I had to do was peel it off. Delish. I then ate a craw fish which were tasty. Lastly, I cracked open the crab legs. They were the most flavorful of all of the seafood. My only complaint is that they did not have any of the little forks to help get the meat out of the shells. So, I did my best in getting the meat out without cutting myself. The red potatoes and corn were a nice break between the different seafood.
To top off the meal, I ordered the chocolate molten cake. It came out as a mini bundt cake with semi-melted chocolate poured over it and in its center and two dollops of whipped cream on the each side of the cake. Although there wasn't anything particularly special about the dessert, it was good.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience at this establishment. I definitely...
Read moreHi, Went to Crafty Crab today w my husband & sister.... It was totally delicious & enjoyable. Haven't been to the restaurant in a few years, so it has changed in a positive way... Of course, the Shrimp in the big puffy bag was beyond delicious!! Potato & Corn, equally yummy! My glass of white wine was hugh, just the way I like it. Inside the Crafty Crab was lovely... tastefully decorated nautical... Comfortable booth and table seating available. Our waitress, Hailey, was delightfully attentive, knowledgeable, warm & efficient... My family and I felt so content with our experience at Crafty Crab today and look forward to returning very soon. 👍🌞👍
Yesterday was our 52nd Anniversay! 2 weeks ago my husband had extensive spine surgery... Wanting a special dinner, but at home, we ordered from Crafty Crab, via Grubhub.... We both ordered the combo Crab legs & Headless Shrimp, just different sauces... I chose the Lemon Pepper & Butter Garlic .... It was outrageously DELICIOUS!!! Every bite was AWESOME...My husband chose the Cajun Sauce.... He enjoyed every bite.... Covid is not interfearing with our Anniversary Celebration.... And Crafty Crab helped tremendously in making our dinner together very special.... Yes, it was pricey and Yes, I would have wanted 2 crab claws, at least, (I would think a 1/2 lb of crab legs would be 2 or 3 crab legs, not just 1???). The amount of headless shrimp were plentiful and a nice size (probably large size shrimp). Due to he price, we won't be able to order often, but whenever we do order from Crafty Crab, and we will order again & again I just know it will be cooked to perfection and be totally delicious and enjoyable!! Thank you, Crafty Crab, for a DELICIOUS...
Read moreFood was good, service was terrible/nonexistent. Went there on a Saturday night around 6:00. We expected a wait so there was no problem waiting the half hour we were quoted for a table. I understand the concept of staggered seating, however tables were being left dirty and un-flipped while there was literally 50 people standing in the vestibule waiting for a table. There were a lot of employees "working" but not really working. 40 min later we are seated, but we had to go to the host stand and ask what was going on, no one texted that our table was ready. We ordered immediately. After the waitress brought our waters she NEVER RETURNED. At least 30 min later our food arrived, and finally the waitress. Again, restaurant busy but not crazy busy because a lot of those 50 people waiting to be sat had walked out. Waitress drops the food, doesn't refill waters, leaves and NEVER RETURNS again. Saved the best for last: other servers were having a conversation near our table, "I'm about to punch this customer in the face. Would that be bad?" So I turned around and answered her question, "yes, that would bad, can one of you please get our check because our waitress disappeared." Management no where to be found. The wait staff clearly needs to learn how serve tables and they should get some god damn manners. Will give this place 1 more try cause the food was tasty, but it is a bit overpriced, even with the coupon. Hopefully management reads this and starts a better training program or needs out all the bad employees, that work is not...
