Benton Harbor Chicken Coop — Restaurant in Benton Charter Township

Chicken and the catfish was the best fresh chicken and catfish I have ever eaten at a Chicken Coop. Flavor and seasons were there and fried to perfection. However the service was not so nice. I called ahead of time for my order. Arrived at the location only to not be able to go inside. Took a peek inside and it was just cluttered with boxes and other cooking tools and machines. The drive thru was open so I pulled around and she told me that my order would be ready in about five or ten minutes. I was cool with that. Who doesn't love fresh food. I then realized that I had forgot to order a meal for my daughter and when I went to add onto my order she complained that she had dropped my original order and that my second order would take up the fryers for their other large orders. Confused a bit, I figured that I may had just missed something in her explanation. So I said "oh okay no problem. Is it okay if I don't add on to my order, how about I just make a second order, as in pay separately like I'm an entire different costumer." She still said the same thing...I'm like "huh". So I just pulled into a parking spot to continue waiting on my original order. Once it was done I pulled around and grabbed it. Then drove around to make another order. She said that I couldn't because the fryers are for other costumers... it was pretty weird! I figured maybe she had some mental issues. So I just left it...

Three young ladies weren't at all friendly. There was no greeting when I walked in at around 840 PM. I felt as if coming in was an inconvenience to them, especially the one who reluctantly waited on me. Very negative attitude. Rude and slow. It was near closing and there was grunting and dread from them as people were ordering via drive-thru (riddled with massive potholes). Large orders at near-closing were met with audible disgust and frustration knowing a customer (myself) could see and hear all this. My sense was they were ready to close but customers were still ordering. These young ladies were ready to be done for the day. The store was absolutely filthy. The girl sweeping the greasy filthy floor never washed her hands when she began working with the food again. The one who took my money and order also cooked and prepared the take-out; the others deferred to her as if she was supervisor. If I could give a rating less than one, I would. I can't remember when I've been so taken aback by unprofessional, rude and lazy customer service which can barely be called service. I will never spend my money at the chicken coop in Benton Harbor. I hope this post will cause management to train employees that customers are the reason they have jobs and we should be respected and...

Very bad service. The young girls that works there were very unprofessional. The one over in St. Joseph, Mi.. I went there on 3/31/19 and I always order just about the same thing when I go there a 3 piece dark basket with all legs and you get the drink with it. The girl told me that a drink doesn't come with it and I always order this meal and it does come with a drink. So when I get to the drive thru window she's like laughing because I asked her who was the young lady that took my order at the drive thru and she still has this smurk on her face when I asked her.
