Ghost Pepper Taqueria & Tequila

This would be a great place for the appetizer portion of a progressive dinner if you got the queso, which was thick & delicious. The margaritas were like the ones I make at home from scratch - delicious. The salsa was the most bland salsa I've ever had - we added TONS of salt, but it seemed to be missing some spices, particularly cumin. The tacos were edible, but also pretty bland - and I don't just mean hot spiciness that they say they will add if requested. Flavorful but mild tacos exist - just not here.

I lived in Arizona for 7 years. I don't really expect a taco joint in the Midwest to compare - but their website says, "We have traveled around the U.S.A. getting inspiration from some of the best taco and Mexican joints that we could find." So... I was pretty excited, then disappointed.

Response to GP: I'd be willing to try one more time to see if it's different. But I just assume that the food is a Midwestern interpretation of Arizona-Sonoran cuisine. I remember once overhearing an Ohioan visiting Arizona say that the salsa was too spicy for them - but it was a mild salsa. 🤷‍♀️
