Armando's — Restaurant in Bergenfield

I’m not a hard person to please. Everything was honestly not good. Came in for lunch called before entering to see what soups they had. Went in the waitress was mopping the floor and was not welcoming. I literally had to ask her after like 20 seconds of just standing there where can I sit. The menu is set up horribly. There’s no descriptions AT ALL. I asked what the mondongo soup came with and she said rice with tortillas. I asked her for an order, minus the tortillas. By the way on the menu the soup said cost $13.99. The soup came it was mediocre nothing stood out, which is fine I guess, but once I bite into the corn the soup had it was so stale and bitter. I tried it again on another side and same thing. So gross. Mind you the waitress did not ask not once if I needed anything else or if everything was ok. I was the only one in restaurant at that point. Then I had to run so I just went up to her to let her know and gave her my card. This lady charged me $20 for the soup. From “$13.99”. The menu’s should be clear before anyone order anything. So upset. Will never ever even consider coming here again....

It was a very warm day. We had been working since 6am. We were looking to get a very cold beer with our lunch. Unfortunately our first beer wasnt what we were expecting. 2 very warm beers. The place was dead and empty. The warm beers didnt help. The waitress seemed upset and irritated when I asked her for bottom fridge cold beers. She granted us that and eventually warmed up to us. I have passed this restaurant 100+ times and just never went in. It kinda looked dark and unopened. I have noticed that the owners spruced up the exterior with flowers and outdoor seating. I also noticed they were now on DoorDash. I ordered a bunch of papusas and a tamale . The papusas were a tiny bit greasy but otherwise very good. The tamale was also excellent.
