Altan's Place was a welcome respite from the usual Berkeley life. The pizza itself is excellent; any thin-crust pizza enjoyer will find the offerings at Altan's place supremely satisfying. Their curated selection of pizzas includes classics like Cheese, Veggie, and Hawaiian as well as more bespoke options like Altan's Special. However, memories of the service are really what you will take home. The owner is supremely kind and attentive, offering waters, pulling out chairs, bringing small dishes to split the pie, and checking in just frequently enough to make sure everything is okay. Her and her staff's care truly made me feel at ease which I haven't felt in a Berkeley restaurant since moving here 2 years ago. The pizza is also very reasonably priced. This is such a cute restaurant with the friendliest staff. I tried their smoked salmon bagel, pesto pizza (couldn’t take pics cuz it looked SO good I just had to eat) waffles with Fresh strawberries + Nutella and their house made creamy whipped cream AND THEY WERE SO DELICIOUS. I will definitely be coming back to try the rest of their menu. They also have really pretty views from inside the restaurant where you can just study/relax while having your food. The pizza was fantastic! We had the Altan’s special and the toppings, cheese, sauce, crust were all great! The staff (owner?) was very friendly as well and gave us more than we expected (a salad and I think a larger sized pizza). The price was also very reasonable. The interior is decorated very nicely and clearly they have spent a lot of effort to make it welcoming. Based on the quality and service, this place should be packed...
