It was okay. I got mashed potatoes with extra gravy (MPG) from the drive-thru but after driving off, I noticed that I only got a TINY cup of gravy while the mashed potatoes had NO gravy at all. I drove back and got a big cup of extra gravy.
I also tried the red beans and rice (every time I hear somebody say red beans and rice, I think of the 1992 hit by Sir-Mix-A-Lot) for the first time because so many people talk about it. To me, it was YUCK! There are NO red beans in there at all. And what kind of rice is that? Well, I don't really eat rice except once in a while...only if mom makes it (fluffy Basmati rice, not the stuck-together rice that is eaten in Oriental Asia).
Anyway, next time I feel like Popeyes, I'll, as usual, just go to Greenville. It's far enough that I can get a little joy ride in and get some of my favorite songs in too. BTW if the chicken is fresh, just made, I think KFC is way better than Popeye's. But from Popeyes, I will always get the MPG and cinnamon apple pie and a large pop after first getting original legs, green beans and a...
Read moreI absolutely love the food here. BUT! How the location in Ionia is run is a great way to ruin a franchise. Sunday, March 23, 2025, I stopped in around noon. There was only one customer in the entire lobby. She was clearly waiting for her food already. I stood at the counter for probably at least five minutes, possibly more before someone spoke with me. They are not busy. They are understaffed, and they do not care. The help was not rude, but definitely not pleasant. Popeyes is an example of a business that has great recipes, great food, decent prices, etc. however, when you run a restaurant like this, no surprise when you don’t have regulars and you’re not busy when other places are. This review is not based upon one single visit. We’ve been here many times. Almost the same story every single time. Even when we make a mobile order, they generally don’t even work on it until we get here. Which begs the question, why even do a mobile order if they’re not gonna start on it until after you arrive? If the franchise owner is reading this, do...
Read moreI’m only giving Popeyes at this location a one star just because you have to give at least one star to get to this point. You have one young employee(I think the only 1), 1 slow manager (that has no pep in her step), one cook…AT ALL TIMES! The young man ran circles around the older lady..working both lobby and drive thru. Which of course…had p.o. Customers at both ends. That young man was doing a great job..considering. Poor kid! I’ve witnessed this several times..with only him there and the same cook. Why not hire more? This is getting a little ridiculous. People waiting 30+ min in the lobby..when they ordered via mobile app, door dashers get frustrated bc now your effecting their job. For as long as we were waiting to finally have a Popeyes in Ionia, we wait that long to get service, and food for $$$$(Who ever is managing this location your not doing your job ). Ionia Popeyes..you’ve definitely given it a bad wrap! Definitely a...
