With a 4.8 Google rating, I thought we were going to a great place. It is in a converted house. All outdoor seating, which was their primary seating was picnic tables. We were seated in the back under a tent at a picnic table. The service was lacking from the beginning. Our waitress, I'm pretty sure was one of the owners, was wearing a t-shirt that said "Mom shit, all day, every day." We didn't have our drink orders taken for 25 minutes. My daughter didn't like the coffee drink and then asked for a coke. We had to ask to order our food. We ordered "Taste of the South" which was a variety of breakfast food served family style for $23.99 a piece. After we had waited for an hour and a half, we were given a biscuit a piece. We had to ask for plates. Every drink refill we got, we either had to ask for or in one case, I got up and got it myself. The other waitress was giving looks like I shouldn't have done that. Well, if we had any service, I wouldn't.
After waiting an hour and 45 minutes, our food came. Most of the stuff was brought out without serving spoons... It was an all you can eat meal. The platter had one piece of chicken for each of us, one piece of bacon and one biscuit a piece. The gravy wasn't warm. The food was just okay. I think at that point, we were so frustrated and had drank so many beverages, that we didn't have much of an appetite, which was good, as there was no way we were going to be served more food in a timely fashion. The sausage, which was too be included was left off. We asked, and then were given two pieces of sausage for our table of four.
We were never offered an apology or anything comped....In fact, we were charged for the one drink that my daughter didn't like, so in all, we were charged for 5 drinks. We had to wait to get the check. We paid $129 for this. I can't believe she didn't comp drinks or offer a lower per plate charge under the circumstances. I always give minimally 15 percent tip, generally 20. I felt no reason to give anything at all for a gratuity.
Toward the end of our wait, our waitress laughingly told another table that the kitchen was purposely filling smaller orders and delaying larger orders. So, people who had just been seated were in some cases getting their food and leaving well before we ever had been served. She said she was glad she wasn't working in the kitchen because they would get yelled at. She complained saying it would be a long time before they got out of there, etc. She thought her statements were funny. I would never have said that out loud with multiple parties waiting almost 2 hours for food. The idea that they have no better understanding of how to run a kitchen and process orders is unreal.
Looking at most of the large parties around us, everyone kept their cool, but you could tell no one was pleased. Most parties didn't eat much when it came. Again, we were sitting in the heat and drinking lots of beverages.
In placing the reservation, it was never stated that most of the seating was outdoors or at picnic tables, which could have been an issue for some people. Other brunches around town were charging $60 to $100 a piece. After this ordeal, I gladly would have paid that or gone to fast food. An hour and 45 minute wait for food is the longest wait I have ever experienced at a restaurant. And this was for breakfast food, much of which should have been easily made in mass. Between the awful service, lack of caring, price and insane wait, I would...
Read moreThis was our second time coming here. We came Saturday morning. They were pretty busy. It took a bit before we were approached about our drinks. Our waiter was a little distracted there was a man in there complaining about his milk coming out to soon, so I can understand. After dropping off our water he took our order and proceeded to get it wrong. We had to repeat it a couple of times. My wife also ordered regular coffee. After sitting there for quite a while my wife had to flag down the waiter because he never brought the coffee. At one point in time the lady that was giving out the food tried to give us a plate with a pancake on it, we said it wasn't ours. She talked to the waiter and somehow he mixed up the table numbers and we were getting someone else's order. When our food arrived the potatoes we soggy and cold and there were things such as jelly missing. Maybe it was because of how busy it was but we haven't been impressed. Probably will...
Read moreThe Farmstead Nashville completely delivered on the brunch vibes!
We stopped by during a trip to Nashville, and everything from the drinks to the food to the atmosphere was on point. I started with the fresh peach Bellini—perfectly balanced and refreshing. The fried green tomatoes were crispy, tangy, and fried to perfection. My omelet was massive (seriously, it felt like it weighed five pounds), and yes, I devoured every bite.
But the real showstopper? The Bronut—a biscuit-donut hybrid stuffed with cheesecake filling, deep-fried, and topped with blueberry compote. I didn’t know I needed it, but now I’m rethinking every brunch I’ve had before.
The vibe was cozy, charming, and welcoming. I can’t wait to come back when the weather is nice and enjoy the outdoor seating.
If you’re in Nashville and looking for a standout brunch spot—this is it.
