I am not typically the type of person to come and write a review online, but after my experience today I feel it is necessary. This is typically a restaurant I go to a lot and have never had an issue before. However, tonight the service me and my friends experienced, from a server named Jessica and the manager, was not like anything I have experienced before. To start off, my older sister who is 25 years old, was tagging along and ordered a drink with her real dc license. The server immediately questioned it and accused her of having a fake and it not being her real id. She then left and then came back with the manager to check the id who barely even looked at it and immediately said “the picture feels weird” and refused to serve her her drink. This has never happened to her before and felt completely ridiculous because what else is she supposed to do other than show her her real id. The server then proceeded to make snarky comments such as making fun of how my sister ordered a steak and said “are you sure you’re 25, you don’t even know how to order a steak” and laughed at her. We felt so uncomfortable. I was so confused why they kept refusing to give her a drink and asked if she had ever seen seen a dc license before since we were in Maryland and showed her also my real dc driver license next to hers to prove that’s what a real dc license looks like. Then the server raised her voice at me and yelled at me to stop speaking to her and treating her like a child. Mind you none of us raised our voice and remained calm the entire time. We then saw her so obviously talking about us and making fun of us to her colleagues and we felt so uncomfortable so we asked for a new server. As we were paying our checks we asked the server to speak to the owner as we were really upset by how we were treated and it completely killed the whole vibe for the night. Jessica, the server, then came back to raise her voice at us again and say “are you guys talking about me why are you talking about me”, being completely unprofessional. I work as a server myself, and I could never imagine speaking so rudely to customers, I genuinely don’t know how she still has her job with the way she treats people. We spoke to the owner who apologized for her behavior but then proceeded to say they have the right to refuse to serve drinks to anyone. I just found this all so ridiculous as she’s literally 25 with her real id. They really seem to need to train their staff better to be able to read a real id and to talk to customers appropriately. Sadly I do not think we will ever...
Read moreMy mother and I have been going to Uncle Julios in Bethesda since 2010, almost 10 years and never had an issue. On June 11th, sunday at 1:20pm we arrived for lunch. A nice gentleman opened the door for my mother and I as we approached the reservation stand staffed with 5 young ladies. As she was trying to get us a table indoors one of the employees told us there were no tables available indoors and we would have to sit outside. My mother is disabled and using a walker and because of the hot weather is unable to sit outside. Inside there was a minimum of 15 open tables indoors. My mother then asked if we could sit at an empty table by the window close by near the entrance. The employee mumbled something under her breath when I intervened and explained that it is against the law to not provide simple accomodations to disabled people (ADA act of 1990). Two of the employees started to laugh as I asked them to get the manager to sort this out. At this point my mother tired, and sad at the cruel treatment became out of breath. A tall gentleman came over and then sat us at the furthest table in the restaurant from the entrance near the restrooms. My mother already tired had to walk the entire length of the building in a walker to get to the table. No apology was offered by the rude behavior by the reservation staff. The waiter was friendly at first but became increasingly hostile to towards the end of the meal. He repeatedly asked how we were going to pay and who was paying three times. Of course, we did pay and provided a 15% tip. The whole experience saddened my mother and made her not want to go out anymore. The staff should be trained that tables close to the entrance should be provides near the entrance for disabled and elderly customers without resistance especially of they are empty. If I was not there would they have turned her away? How other disabled people have been treated poorly by staff? I have never filed a complaint on google reviews or against this establishment, but I felt it necessary to post this so other elderly and disabled person do not have to go through what my mother had to go through on sunday. I did send to email to their corporate headquarters and as of tuesday, June 13th received...
Read moreI hate unprofessional ppl who take on a job they don't like, first off let me say this the very first time I came to this place we were seated felt welcomed and the food was delicious. This time it was like HELL'S KITCHEN, I don't know if they changed staffed since the last time my best friend and i went for my bday but the employees were TERRIBLE not all but some. When we first walked in it was oh you can seat yourself on the side we recommend to be seated, never gave us a menu just had us find our own way. We set for about 10 mins no one never came to the table to greet themselves or us, no water then it was like over 3 tables that was left dirty that were just sitting around as if the tables were gonna clean itself, the side we we were on anyway to say the least!!!! I guess it was self seated help yourself right? as if they were upset they had to do their own job. As we went to go sit at the bar since we felt unnoticed the server/ bartender ( the little one with a attitude) just set a napkin in front of my best friend without even wiping the area down, once she noticed and said something Ms. Thing was on fire.... She snatched the napkin out of my best friend hands which we didn't understand why because it's your job to clean before you serve anyone, that's what anyone would recommend when you're working for their company professionalism, groomed well, nice attitude, keeping your establishment up to par ..... It's like last night was all HELL, I felt we were treated very unfair and I spoke up about it my friend tacos were cold as if they were just sitting around purposely in the back yet the bartenders never served us another waitress did who wasn't working at the bar. I can go on and on about my night but please check your employees, they didn't know where our standard stands meaning we could've been professional ppl that were hired to review this establishment. Anywhere I eat I want to feel comfortable loved and respected as I give that same energy back!!! Customers not always right yet employees need to be very more professional even if they having a bad day , because I'm paying my hard working money to sit and support you guys business!!!!! I guess you guys lost me...
