Alexandra's Bistro — Restaurant in Bethlehem

Maybe it was an off morning? I had high hopes with the 4.5 star average. Was not really impressed at all here. Ordered a pretty standard breakfast, their "Alexandra's Special". How could I go wrong right, breakfast named after the place?! Eggs over, scrapple (when in PA...), home fries, and pancakes. I chose to add blueberries to the pancakes. A cup of coffee to wash it down.

The food: it came out very fast, that's good. Eggs were cooked correctly! Unfortunately the food wasn't great. Scrapple was skimpy portion and very thin. Not in a good crispy way where you get a lot either. Just kinda skimpy. Pancakes were pretty undersized as well (about 6" diameter or the size of a small corn tortilla), and also very thin not fluffy (not much thicker than a crepe). I was struggling to find any blueberries. It kinda tasted like blueberries, but really just a weak flavor and I saw one blue dot that I assume was somehow a blueberry. Hash browns had a weird orangish tinge, and weren't amazing. Not at all seasoned or flavorful despite the color. I had to put salt, pepper, hot sauce and ketchup for it to be interesting at all.

The service: one server who was pretty bubbly and fairly pleasant. About three sips into the coffee she asked if I wanted a refill. Then when I actually needed one mid meal I had to ask. Then I asked at the end for more, she got a little side tracked. Started talking to a coworker about the season premier of Game of Thrones (which I haven't seen yet), and started spoiling the episode :( I didn't even get my refill, I just walked out a little bummed.

The bill came to just under $9 not including tax or tip.

I manage a restaurant, so I don't want to negatively affect a small business' rating. 3 stars is a bit generous, but it could have been worse. I hope it was...

I arrived around 10:40 am and was sitted. I patiently waited for about forty minutes before I asked when will my order be taking being that I observed the business. The particular waitress that was taking the food orders commented " Oh I'm sorry I thought she (other waitress)had already taking your order." My order was then taking and she mentioned "I will make sure I let the cooks know you have been waiting for sometime." I observed at least three customers that had came in after me who have been served and was already on the way out; around 12:50pm the waitress who had taking my order came back to my table and mentioned "they are now making your order." I have been waiting for almost two hours already keeping in mind three customers who had came in after me was served and was already leaving.I mentioned to her that I no longer want the meal due to the customer service I was receiving; at that point in time she became very unprofessional in her behavior towards me because of me no longer wanting the meal instead of finding a solution to the problem due to the inconvenience of the situation. Horrible attitude... very slow service by a trainee. That's ok, we all have to start somewhere. However, on checkout a price was demanded, that was way too high. Asked to see the check and the person seemed surprised. She presented the check and it wasn't ours. On the next try, a price was demanded and this time the check was shown. It was wrong. Included items that were not extra cost, but added in as extra cost. The card had already been run, so there were now two people trying to figure out how to get the numbers right. A small refund was run through and two cash register tapes were presented for signature. On signing both, I asked for a receipt. The response, "you should have asked for that sooner." Followed by snotty comments and the admonition that it is NOT customary to offer a receipt. Recap: we went in for a simple Saturday morning breakfast.
