I’d love to give this neighborhood restaurant 5 stars, but the owner needs a lesson in understanding that the customer is always right and you don’t back talk to an upset customer! It’s a spacious facility, utterly empty at 10 am (I wonder why), with some pretentious props like a wide screen TV mount showing off a cooking channel, as if this restaurant were the cat’s meow. I was in a terrible rush this morning. I thought I’d grab some breakfast before a hair appointment in the same corner mall. I asked for a simple tofu scramble and was told that they would make it for me although it was not on their regular menu. Their order intake person was personable, flexible, helpful, and friendly. I liked him, and based on his thoughtful service, I found myself already ready to write a great review even before eating my delicious tofu scramble. I asked if they had and could add turmeric to it. They said yes. I explained that turmeric would additionally change the color of the tofu, giving it an egg like appearance. The woman listening nodded her head “yes” and I assumed she was the cook peeking out from behind the counters. The food came rather quickly, spending $19.76, no cheap fare. I merrily took it to my hairdresser’s and began to eat it after noting that it looked strange, but as I was starving, I must have gulped down three bites. By then I felt sick, realizing that this could not possibly be tofu and must be eggs! {{{{I’m vegan!!!!}}}}} That’s a serious offense! So I ran back to return it so that they could fix this “mistake.” Of course I was in a hurry because of my hairdresser appointment. To make a long story short, I was met with what was apparently the owner and not a common cook. In a nutshell, after her slow explanation/revelation that “we don’t make tofu scramble,” and after arguing with me that I had ordered “scrambled eggs with tofu in it,” and I had clarified that in Los Angeles everyone knows what a tofu scramble is, and that good restaurants SHOULD carry these vegan options, and that I was really upset because I ATE these eggs after having ordered a tofu scramble, she unapologetically told me to get lost, get out, and never come back again, because I was “getting on [her] nerves now!” Continental Kitchen, Home of the First Bite, please remember that the customer is always right in American business, keep your mind open to new ideas, and show respect to vegans. You were NOT my home at first bite. You also owe me an apology for not taking responsibility for your own ignorance about not understanding what a simple tofu scramble is. It’s your own culinary error, not mine. You didn’t deliver what I...
Read moreI have been a patron of this place off and on prior to Covid and post Covid. And to be frank the impossible burger was poorly made that last time I was there. My review today is in regards to the disgusting treatment from the female owner of this facility. Recently, I was there and the owner was disgustingly rude to me. She claimed I was soliciting, because I approached another customer with information about a casting. I was simply information with her father. She spoke to me in the most disgusting dehumanizing manner. I was not soliciting I was sharing information. SHE WAS DISGUSTINGLY RUDE.
This was bold racism I believe. I was by no means soliciting. Furthermore as someone who is a patron this woman did have to speak to me so grossly. Perhaps she was having a bad day. But this was uncalled for. She was absolutely wrong in her assumption. And she could have been more polite. I will never patron this business again. You're behavior was deplorable and unacceptable.
I believe that this was a bold expression of basis. And has the undertones of racism. This facility is nice. However the owners communication was DEPLORABLE and rooted in an untrue assumption. You have no right to speak to people that way. You have lost a customer and local fan. Absolutely wrong. I will look into civil rights complaints because this disgusting and I believe a moment of racial basis.
She could have asked and she could have been much more polite. You don't get to be disgustingly rude to people based off the wrong assumption. NO I WAS NOT SOLICITING! Dead wrong. I was sharing information!...
Read moreMy partner has been recovering from a stroke for 3 months and has been at a rehab facility 3 blocks away. She was getting stir crazy and tired of institutional food. She is still wheelchair bound, and has trouble speaking. I decided to have the staff put her in wheelchair and take her here. I preprogrammed her assisted communication device with what she wanted, and the waitress was able to take her order that way. There is plenty of spacing between table which made steering the wheelchair easy. The table height is perfect for a manual generic wheelchair, so that she was able to sit right up to the table as if she was in a chair. The wraps are perfect for someone who can only use one hand, and the fries come with ketchup in little cups. Food was great, so was very happy to eat what she wanted to eat vs the take or leave it options at the facility. I also enjoyed having a huge breakfast considering that I have also been living off packaged foods for the last 3 months. The bacon was meaty and thick, eggs cooked exactly as requested, and coffee strong enuff to cut thru my fog of exhaustion.
Meal for two with tip was $50....
