La Cienega Park in Beverly Hills teeters on the edge, almost feeling more like Los Angeles. It's got its perks: a nice jogging track circling the park, decent (and free!) outdoor workout equipment for a good park sweat, and top-notch baseball fields.
However, here's why it only gets one star from me: despite being a Beverly Hills park, they can’t seem to manage lighting the kids' area at night. It’s baffling, especially when sketchy LA homeless occasionally wander in. There is a park ranger on duty, but they can’t be everywhere at once. Meanwhile, the baseball fields light up like they're prepping for the World Series, leaving the kids' park in the dark. It's not just weird, it's unsafe.
And the shade situation? Minimal, at best. Adding insult to injury, it apparently takes 10 months to replace a kids' slide. Come on, Beverly Hills—where are all those tax dollars going? This park has potential, but for now, it’s falling short. If you're listening, Beverly Hills, let’s get some lights and shade for the kids. They...
Read moreNice park with a decent recreation facility building. The kitchen area is a little worn and could use a little attention, though it's clean and in good working condition. Generous parking is available across the street and it's free after 6 pm, which is very convenient if you're attending an event in the rec center. Do plan ahead, though, as the parking facility is on the other side of busy, high-traffic La Cienega. After parking in the garage (approach from the south-bound lane of La Cienega for easy access), you'll need time to walk to a cross street, wait for a traffic light, then cross and walk south or north to your destination. As north-south traffic takes precedence, this...
Read moreI love this park. It's great for so many things. The playground is the best. It has equipment for multiple ages from toddler to school age kids. It has swings, rockwall, baseball fields, concession stand with actual food, drinks and snacks. Vending machines that actually work. Tables, some with chess boards and benches throughout the park. It's great for taking a baby strollers or a going for a jog. I'm not sure if it has grills in the park but it would definitely be a good location to have a get-together with a large or small group. I love it most for the playground and that it's in walking distance...
