My girlfriend and I went to The Beverly Depot for dinner on New Years Eve. I would say that it was a mediocre experience at best. The food was decent, nothing great, esepcially for the prices they charge.
The restaurant itself was very drafty and cold, and I felt like we were in the area where they were storing the meat! When we first seated, the draft was so bad, that I asked to be reseated, which they accomondated with no problem.
Inside was a big noisy dining room, it felt like we were in a wide open cafeteria. The crowd was older probably with a median age of mid to late fifties. I suspect that this is their usual crowd and I felt like this would be a place I frequented when I reach the geriatric age.
The wait staff and service was terrible, the waitress was so unattentive, that I literally had to raise my hand a couple times to get her attention, like I was back in grade school waiting to answer a question. I typically leave a 20% tip, but I left 15% in lieu of the horrible service, but only because it was New Year's eve and I was feeling generous.
Like I mentioned above the food was decent, and that was the only thing that kept me from complaining to the management and asking for my money back. We got sirloin steak and salmon dinners, which were good, but I have definitely have had better steaks elsewhere. The salad bar was fresh and had a good offering, this was probably the best part of the meal. I had to ask the hostess to refill the bread at the salad bar, because someone was neglecting to do their job! I also had to ask for silverware several times, and butter for the bread as well. It seemed like the wait staff was struggling with the basic functions of a restaurant.
The wine list was decent but limited in what you could order by the glass, obviously, they want you purchase the bottle, but the wine by the glass offering seemed quite less than restaurants I have frequented?
I eat out quite a bit for both work and pleasure, and this definitley was not such a great experience, it fell extremely short of my expectation and I would not return here for dinner.
In summary, if you are looking for a drafty, cold, loud, over priced cafeteria style restaurant, then The Beverly Depot is your place, however, I would not recommend...
Read moreI wish I was writing a great review but unfortunately I can't. My husband and I had a date night at the restaurant. He ordered the Rib Eye cooked medium, I ordered the Old Fashion Sliced Steak. Per usual we were told we could to head to the salad bar. We made our salads, cut a few slices of fresh bread and cheese. The bread was so fresh and delicious. The cheese however was very warm and soft as was the salad, usually it is nice and chilled.
Our dinner comes out and mine was placed first, looked delicious and exactly what I ordered, my husbands meal on the other hand was a PRIME RIB cooked medium rare. My husband does not eat prime rib or does he eat medium rare. When we mentioned the mistake they offered to make a new meal. He declined because I would've been eating alone or if I waited for his correct meal to be cooked, my food would've been cold. He did eat a few bites but it was not to his liking. The manager came over, apologized and offered us 2 free desserts. We declined the desserts. I am not sure how 2 8$ desserts would compensate a$43.00 steak. I did mention that an offer of 2 desserts does not come close to the cost of the meal and the mistake so the only compensation they made was taking my 1 drink off the bill.
It was a little disheartening as I am usually a fan of The...
Read moreNow, to be upfront I ordered the salmon last time I was there. Having said that I've also had their steaks which are fabulous. Being invited out by my daughter for dinner and not being in the mood for NY sirloin I ordered the house salmon. This came with The Depot's famous salad bar which includes cheeses and fresh bread. The salad ingredients were crisp, various choices of vegetables and dressings. It is an all you can eat buffet style which works well for the Depot's atmosphere. The bins are kept tidy and fully stocked. Once you select your favorites you then move on to dressings and lastly the cheese board. I needed only one trip. My daughter ordered the sirloin strip, medium, and she was very pleased. It came with the biggest baked potato I've ever seen at a restaurant. My salmon arrived with sauteed vegetables and jasmine rice. The portion was generous and the presentation was spot on. We didn't order dessert as I'm getting round. The bathrooms are clean, well stocked and have Dyson high speed hand dryers. I would recommend The Beverly Depot for...
