This place is top tier omakase quality at local sushi bar prices. It's unreal. Both of the truffle Maki rolls are my favorite rolls of all time out of every sushi spot I've ever been to. The Maki cover also goes nuts, and the green tea is just so pleasing to the palette.

Everything here is expertly crafted with so much care and attention to detail. I'm grateful for this place.

UPDATE It's been almost 2 years since my initial review above and I have so much more good things to say!

First off, everything I already said still stands to this very day. My two favorite rolls are still both forms of the truffle maki roll. Elite. Consistent. The best.

Another dish that became an instant favorite is the yaki udon with beef. Holy smokes Holy Ghost. This is one of the best noodle dishes I've ever had. It's for sure the best udon dish I've had thus far. The beef is perfectly tender, the wealth of vegetables perfectly cooked and fresh2death, and the whole thing completely enveloped in the most flavorful sweet/savory sauce that is harmonious to the taste buds. You need this.

My wife is obsessed with their love handroll. Their hand rolls go hard. They're like packed packed —with their top tier ingredients at that. This one is filled with melt-in-your-mouth Toro with a nice crunch from the tempura embedded inside. Texture and taste on lock.

I've also tried their katsu, takoyaki, and karaage. Literally all executed perfectly with so much love and care you could almost taste it. I'm convinced you can’t go wrong with any dish from here, and none of them feel heavy or leave you feeling icky in the slightest. Chef Jerry don't play.

Their new location is soooo nice, clean, classy, and tastefully furnished. More than that, it's bigger and includes outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Their staff is also very warm and are just some of the most pleasant people. This has always been true and continues with their growing staff.

Our OG waitress Janely gets a special shout out because she takes the time to recognize regulars, is super sweet, and is basically our friend at this point. Also, my wife apparently came in on a weekday afternoon and they had given her a complimentary experimental dessert that she LOVED. She mentioned this mythical dessert to Janely during our last visit and she let Chef Jerry know, and he did his best to recreate it for us. It was legit. It was an egg based dessert dish. Think of a Japanese rolled omelette delicately rolled with something that was like maple, paired with the ripest momoyama (mountain peach). Insane. The hospitality is Abrahamic level. This place is the best.

What a find! Based on the reviews, my husband and I decided to give Taku a try. We have really cut back on eating out because more often than not we leave with buyer’s remorse. I am thrilled to report that I left Taku with just a desire to return soon.

We ordered the Sashimi lunch special which included 3 pieces EACH of salmon, hamachi and tuna plus a salad and miso soup! It was $17 and it was phenomenal. The salmon and hamachi were battling for first place but with me, salmon almost always wins. The tuna was good but very lean and couldn’t compete with the other two.

We also tried the shrimp & veggie tempura and an unagi maki. I was a little concerned that the tempura might be greasy when they brought it out but it was light and super crunchy. The shrimp were cooked perfectly.

The maki was rich and tasty. Then the chef sent over a gift of two nigiri of avocado with truffle salt. The avocado was at the absolute moment of perfection and with the salt it was a bite of umami heaven.

On top of all of this, the service was impeccable. Our waitress was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. The sushi chef was also very amiable and checked in on us. He was also chatting with another diner and it seemed like she was ordering something not on the menu and he was collaborating with her to make sure he put together something she would enjoy.

The atmosphere was very cozy, clean and relaxing. Music was mellow and not too loud and though I don’t feel like a television was necessary, bonus points for having Bob Ross on!

All this plus two hot green teas (not from a bag) was just under $50. We left stuffed and so happy. My new favorite sushi spot and so...

On our anniversary, my partner and I discovered this cozy haven, a restaurant that transcends mere dining and becomes an unforgettable experience.

The evening began with the Kinoko mushroom soup, a soul-soothing bowl of umami perfection. Its velvety texture and earthy aroma set the tone for the meal. The Kaibashira scallops followed, each seared to delicate perfection. Their tender sweetness was complemented by a subtle glaze that danced on the palate.

The Chef's set of nigiri was a masterpiece of precision and artistry, featuring exquisitely fresh fish atop perfectly seasoned rice. Each piece was a testament to the chef's dedication to his craft. The grilled wagyu beef was nothing short of a revelation for the finale. Juicy, tender, and cooked to perfection, it offered a rich, melt-in-your-mouth indulgence that crowned our culinary journey.

Exceptional Gabrielle led impeccable service. Her warmth and attentiveness elevated the evening, ensuring every detail was meticulously attended to. The restaurant's ambiance, with its understated elegance and serene charm, provided the perfect backdrop for our celebration.

This gem on the North Shore is not merely a restaurant but an embodiment of Japanese culinary artistry. Whether celebrating a special occasion or seeking a gastronomic escape, this establishment promises an experience that lingers in memory long after the...

📍Taku - Beverly MA We had the best first Omakase experience at Taku! Each course was expertly curated by Chef Jerry and the flavors blew us away! The quality of fish that Chef Jerry uses and his 30+ years of experience shines through their dishes! This was such a fun way to try something new and learn what we really enjoy! The Soft Shell Crab and Hamachi are absolute must try’s! During the warmer months they have a great patio that is shaded during the day! The team here is super friendly, knowledgable, and accommodating. Definitely stop by Taku if you’re looking for the best sushi on the North Shore! @TAKU Sushi Bar . . . #northshorema #omakase #sushi #supportlocal #bostonfoodies
