Being from the area and watching as new places get redone and pop up, Mission Boathouse falls into this. We went on Thursday around 5:30. First thing you notice is the bar has load house music playing, just in the bar area, but load for sure, love music, but the issue not everyone loves this music etc. Folks were all noticing how load it was. We asked the staff, could we grab a table (we did have a reservation as well, but the dining area was almost empty). We sat at a window facing the water, which was great. Waitress was attentive and informative on the menu. The only issue we had with our meals and the menu is they don't seem to go together. They have Prime Rib for over $50 and then a couple of lines above, you have a appetizer that is a Hot Dog, correct, a Hot Dog. For this caliber of restaurant, this should never be on the menu no matter how dressed up you want to make a hot-dog. Pictures below show Fried Calamari and Clam Chowder. The Calamari was fried but then covered in spice oily which was very good but no dipping sauces. This is not your Rhode Island Calamari, just a little different but very good. Being from MA my whole life, we know a good clam chowder - and this just off. It had the bacon pieces but we kept tasting sour cream for some reason. It was not horrible but again, something didn't taste right. And it had plenty of clams and a good size bowl. On the main dish of shrimp scampi - again a little off. It was super watery, very limited garlic and tomatoes. Tomatoes should not be in shrimp scampi - you could eat this but totally not what a scampi should be... The scallop special had 6 small scallops on just white rice, not jasmine as stated as well as sautéed vegetables - you could choose how you get the scallops blackened etc.. Also as a huge Bourbon drinker and knowing how a Manhattan should be made, this was no doubt watered down, meaning you left the ice to long in the shaker and now we have Bullet Manhattan watered down. I pick and choose my battles on this one in regards to sending back. Where they are new and getting their "sea legs" I'm very open to things. The location with its threw floors is awesome. This will bring in a lot of people for the view alone and an app - super cool location and...
Read moreUpdate: Leonardo reached out to us personally and extended an invitation to come to dinner on the main floor. My fiance and I had a lovely meal at Mission Boathouse last night. The staff was very attentive to us, and we especially enjoyed the tequila flight that Leonardo and his team had laid out on the table for us. The manager that evening, whose name is escaping me, was very kind and checked in with us several times. Overall, the experience was very redemptive, and we are grateful for the opportunity to experience Mission Boathouse's upstairs dining room.
The Tequila Cantina was a waste of time, money, and a meal. Photos of the website included as comparison of our expectations. What began as a promising dock side tequila afficionado has bottomed out. Going to the bar, my fiancée and I asked to see a tequila menu. The bartender said there wasn't one and gestured to the darkened shelves of liquor behind him. No prices, no flights, no hierarchy. We asked what the house tequila was like and he said, and I quote, "Tequila is one of those where there are a hundred of them. And they all taste the same. So, you know." We were flabbergasted. As tequila lovers and as foodies we should have left, but persisted. We ordered a margarita and a sangria: both overly iced, watered down, tasteless mixtures. We ordered the fish and shrimp tacos. Delivered to us were four sad, cold flour tortillas sprinkled with iceberg lettuce, canned corn with one tiny cube of jalapeño, and two shrimp. We paid $60 for our 4 tacos and 2 drinks. We left hungry and incredibly disappointed. We will not...
Read moreWe will not return! Walking up to the hostess station being greeted by three young ladies dressed to meet there friends at the park before heading to a keg party, was the first indication of a less than stellar experience. Love Bose speakers, just not in my ear at 7pm when were seated under a reservation in the bar area at a high top. This was a Birthday for an 87 year old, no option for other seating was offered, nor were we asked when we made the reservation if the bar was ok. House music, really. Not subtle jazz or dinner music. Tattoos, nose rings, etc, are now the norm. I get it, but when you are supposedly fine dining, it shoudl not be in your face, and in your face is putting it lightly. Servers blouse was unbuttoned low exposing chest tatoos to match the not sublte heavy thick nose ring. Maybe the dining room area has a better sense of dress and style where the cusotmers dining experience is concerned. If this was a tavern, prices were half what they are charging, then yeah ok expected. I am sorry we will not return, the ocean can be seen from many views at many locations. I would rather have take out and sit at the dock for free and watch people catch stripers that Mission Boathouse can put on the mneu at a $40 special. Blackened Salmon was weak, Scamp was also sub par, the surf and turf was excellent just cooked completely wrong for the person that ordered it so meals were swapped. Drinks, wow tasty but super weak. if they had a 2 oz poor in them, none of us could taste, tell or even had the...
