Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Biddeford

My family and I were celebrating our Granddaughters 11th Birthday this evening at Applebee's in Biddeford.

We did not have a reservation, so I went inside to check on the availability of a table for 4. One of my family is handicapped, so We needed a table that was close to an entrance.

I met a Manager named Thomas at the guest counter and was greeted with a warm, friendly Hello! I took him as a Manager by the way Thomas took care of our situation. Not only did he accomidate us, He also granted us access to the restaurant through a side door and seated us at a table that would accommodate us.

If Thomas is not the Manager, He should be considered for a Managers posistion.

It was somewhat busy at 6pm when we arrived. The waitress who took our orders was very pleasant and professional. She asked us if we would like some beverages and We were quickly with drink. From the time that she took our order to the time that our meals were set on our table, it was around 15 + minutes. The food was hot and tasty. Two of us had the Chicken Brocolli Primavera and one had Burger and Fries, the 4th had Nacho Chips.

The restrooms were well kept. The overall atmosphere at Applebee's was inviting.

At the end of our meal, The staff all came out and delivered a 🧁 with a candle. They all sang Happy Birthday to our Birthday girl and the restaurant patrons all joined in.

We normally go to the Applebees in Sanford where we have always had a delicious meal with great service. The owner walks around and checks in with people to see how their meal is. We ate at the Biddeford Applebees and regretted almost from the start. We get the same thing every time we go and did the same. We watch a hot sizzling Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp go by but finally when it was our turn, there was no sizzling to be had. There was some kind of sauce or something on the dish that is not normally there and it was ordered with “no onion” however that specification was ignored by the chef. So we asked if we could get something different. Mine was simply luke warm, which I mentioned to the waitress who responded that they could heat the Double Crunch Chicken Wings up in the microwave or they could make them again..we’d already waited so long I just ate them cold..and they got colder as I had to almost beg for another water. It took the replacement order forever to come and yes, you guessed it, barely warm. I almost thought at this point, that the waitress was purposely letting our food sit back there. When she never took the original chicken dish off the table, I put it over by the window so we didn’t have to continue looking at it. Waited forever for the check..and had it been food, you guessed it, it would have been cold too. At this point, my attitude had long since soured, to match my...

Tonight we had a party of 22 for my sons 11th birthday. My wife had been in contact with the manager over a couple days. Applebees does not offer “reservations”. HOWEVER, this location did a fantastic job of accommodating our group, making adequate seating adjustments, and doing the best they could to take care of their customers.

I must say, I don’t remember her name, but our waitress was phenomenal. I work in retail. I know how things are now a days, everyone is short staffed, everyone is running on full tilt. I wish more people on the customer side of transactions realized this. She did a great job! She held composure in between a handful of kids that were a little riled up and happy to be out for dinner, and a big group of hungry adults lol. Someone give this chick a raise!! That’s the kind of employee Applebees wants to hold onto and move up the chain.

All in all, I’m very pleased. I’ve been to this location many times. I haven’t had a bad experience and don’t expect one.
