Rating a 3 star because I got sick for 5 days after eating here. I ate here once before over a year ago and thought I would try it out again. Cute, casual, low key vibe in the restaurant. Service was fast and friendly. Our waitress was very attentive and was nice but there was a few things messed up with our order so I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. I ordered the valentine roll which listed on the menu it came with salmon on top. It came out and it was quite obviously topped with tuna. I was willing to look over this but two pieces into my sushi roll, something felt off about it so I didn’t finish my roll. I didn’t eat anything else that night. (TMI warning) The next morning I had violent diarrhea. Normally when this has happened before it only lasts for a day. I straight up had it BAD for 5 days, missed work because everything I would attempt to eat or drink would just run right through me, liquified. My poor angel boyfriend moved in with me barely a week before so imagine the embarrassment of your bf moving in with you and then getting hardcore diarrhea for 5 days straight. I have not had diarrhea that severe since the late 90s when I was a child, no exaggeration. Not to mention it affected my s*x life so I fell into a deep depression after not getting it for 5 days. Not trying to be dramatic, just sharing my honest experience to warn others. I know it was the sushi that made me sick. I am an experienced sushi eater so I know when something is not right with the fish. Bringing the rating up to 3 star because our server was so polite & I feel like she can’t be the one to blame for food quality issues. With all of the other mistakes that happened with various items we ordered, I wouldn’t be surprised if the quality of the fish was also compromised.

I thought the food was very “fair”. Not amazing, but certainly not bad. I had the crab rangoons, spicy ramen, and a galaxy boba Tea. The Rangoons could’ve used more filling, and I thought the ramen broth was a little lacking in flavor. There was PLENTY of noodles, and the pork was very tender to their credit, however. What I do want to highlight, however is the AMAZING customer service I received from my server “MK”. When I asked for the check, MK asked if I didn’t like the galaxy tea I ordered. (noticed I only had about 1/4 of it) I told him while it was good, what I really wanted was a milk tea. (This was completely my fault, I ordered galaxy-strawberry boba and didn’t realize until after that it was different than milk tea.) MK told me he could replace it, and when I declined because the galaxy still wasn’t bad, he INSISTED that I get what I want and brought me a new drink at no cost. He also took notice of my Combat Veteran ball cap and told me he applied a military discount without me even asking and thanked me. The milk tea he brought me as a replacement was FANTASTIC. If the restaurant management sees this, I hope you give MK some sort of incentive; His excellent customer service not only made my day, but will be the reason I return to get another milk tea before I leave back to Texas.

Hokkaido is an absolute solid ramen spot for Billings! Love stopping here whenever I'm in town visiting. I ordered the Honeydew Galaxy Tea and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor, if you're a fan of a syrupy sweet taste I'd recommend, the passion fruit was also very good and more toned down sweetness. My sister got the Taro Milk tea which had a creamy almost nutty flavor (in my opinion). All three were quite good, I would probably get a milk tea next time since mine was a little too sweet for me. Ordered the Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor and the texture of the chasu. I've had really fatty pork before but this one had a bit more meat/body to it. Also was very happy to have a full egg included (some places only have half). There's a bit more noodles in comparison to the broth so I was able to take the rest to go with an extra order of chasu and an egg. Other party members got the Spicy Beef Ramen, Karaage, Bam Bam Shrimp, and Gyoza with positive feedback on all the dishes. Overall it was very good, next time we'll have to try some of the sushi!

Update - December 2022 Had to give them another chance because the food is delicious. We took some out of town visitors here for dinner and had an EXCELLENT experience. Wait staff was very on top of everything, friendly, accommodating and fast. The food was tasty as always and this has renewed my faith in this place. Will definitely come again! 5 stars re-earned.

Experience in Summer 2021 Good food. Bad service.

We’ve been here once before for dinner and had an excellent time. This time however we went for lunch and had a terrible experience.

Went around opening time and were the first people to dine-in. After ordering our drinks and food, a few more parties came dine-in as well. Note we were a party of 2, both ordered boba tea, ramen and nothing else.

40 minutes pass and the other two tables around us had ordered, eaten, AND left while we had our drinks but no food. More (bigger) parties come and get seated and the waitress comes over and asks what we ordered. My husband told her his order and couldn’t remember mine while I was in the restroom. Waitress tells us the food will be out shortly and went to other tables.

She then comes BACK handing me a menu to ask me what I ordered. After already waiting close to an hour by this time I told her we were done waiting and to bring us the check.

I would’ve thought at least an apology/comp drink for clearly forgetting to put our order in would be a given, but all we got was a response of, “thanks for coming in” from the waitress. Paid the $10 for two boba teas and literally went across the street to Five Guys instead.

I wish we didn’t have this experience because the first time we went it was great! But being the FIRST people in today and having two other tables order, eat, and leave before we even got food just really sucked. Just be forewarned the service seems to have...

Hokkaido is one of my favorite places to eat in Billings. I’ve been several times and brought friends and family to experience the amazing food and awesome staff. However, my experience tonight was pretty terrible. My fiancé and I were greeted and seated in the wonderfully friendly manner that we have come to expect at Hokkaido and once we had given our order we did not see our server for another 40 minutes. Our appetizers and drinks were served by other staff members (Rich is absolutely amazing!) and after we had waited at a food-less table our server came to ask how our food was. Mind you the 3-4 other tables that she was serving had been seated with or after us all had food and were well on their way to being done. When we told her that we had not gotten our entrees and it had been 40 minutes she quickly said she would check the kitchen. When she came back she explained that there was one order ahead of ours and offered to give us a discount. We had prior engagements so we could not wait for the food any longer and we asked for the check. I don’t mind waiting for food, I’ve been in her shoes so I’m not upset that she forgot our order. What frustrated me was that even though her mistake was obvious she did not acknowledge it or apologize. It was very poor service and I was disappointed. Had she admitted it and then apologized then it would have made the situation so much less awkward and less tense rather than laying the blame on the kitchen. Like I said, it’s one of my favorite places and the staff is typically awesome but tonight service was super disappointing. I certainly hope this was a one time thing for this restaurant. Do...
