Several in our group ordered the French onion soup. All agreed it was bland. A couple in our group ordered the wedge salad and both agreed the restaurant skimped on the blue cheese.
My chicken Marsala was delicious. Great crispy texture and wonderful taste.
We found it surprising and disappointing they charge for an extra serving of bread. The menu prices are already pricy, so we were surprised they wouldn’t incorporate extra bread into the overall pricing. Coffee was ok, but was served in a small cup and only filled 2/3. $3 for something that small was surprising.
The live music was good, but loud and made it difficult to carry on a conversation.
The most disappointing part of the evening was the service from our server, Vee M. She gave us the feeling she was trying to do too many things at once, but I saw one other server, and it looked like the bartender (Patty/Manager?) stepped in occasionally to help. When Vee took our orders at a table of 7, she stood next to me and didn’t attempt to move around the table next to each guest as they ordered. This was an issue, given the loud music. Choosing to be stationary put the onus on the customer to shout loud enough over the music to be heard. When our guests ordered a particular alcoholic drink, she shook her head “no” and told our guest she wouldn’t like it. The most alarming and disappointing thing about our service from Vee is when she delivered the bill, she put it in front of my son. We asked her if she could split it between the 4 parties at our table. She gave a nod of exasperation and walked away. She never asked at any point if this would be on one check or split in multiple ways. I’ve been in customer service all my life and that experience right there was one of the worst things someone who serves others can do.
The atmosphere and food seemed to match up fairly adequately to the concept of fine dining. But the service was far from what a high quality restaurant should deliver. It would have been nice to have the manager stop by and check on our table. I didn’t see much activity at the bar, so I believe she would have had ample opportunities to...
Read moreWe joined a friend group here for dinner on a Saturday evening.
The menu is deceptive. I ordered the “Steak Oscar”, described as 2 fillet mignon medallions topped with crabmeat and served with asparagus. The medallions were expected to be small, but they were TINY. About the diameter of a 50¢ piece - 1/2” thick at best. They were served with a ~teaspoon of crab meat, and a single asparagus cut at angles and used as a garnish - $38.
My friend ordered the grouper fillet, listed at market price. It was frozen fish that was clearly breaded and fried while it was still frozen. She returned the $44 fish because it was awful, and requested a crabmeat salad from the menu. It was approximately 4 leaves of iceberg lettuce, well presented on the plate in a pattern flanked by 8 halved cherry tomatoes and a teaspoon of crabmeat in the center - $22.
The average plate cost is listed as $35, and that is SOLELY due to the price of the appetizers, which were quite good. The Brussel sprouts and truffle fries were standouts, and fairly priced at $10.
The drink menu is good quality, and fairly priced. The desert menu is hit or miss. The “mile high pie” is just a vertical slice of Neapolitan ice cream with chocolate glaze. But the blondie was quite good.
The atmosphere was pleasant, though the dining area is small, and if you plan to have conversation you better do it between the back to back to back live vocals. The woman singing Rat Pack era period piece songs did a wonderful job, but I couldn’t scream at the person across the table and be heard.
The service, for their part, was quite good. Our server was attentive and polite, and managed any issues we had gracefully.
All in all, it’s an extremely overpriced dining experience, but for a night of drinking and live period music, it...
Read moreThe ambiance was great when we first arrived and were shown to a booth. The best part of the experience is that my 82 year old mom’s food was great, the French onion soup, the steak bordelaise, truffle fries were excellent. Our tables experience did not go as well:-( The hostess seated us then told us that we could not stay longer than two hours. If we wanted to we would have to check back. We just arrived so that set the tone for our dinner. The waitress took awhile to wait on our table, when she took our drink order and brought back waters, we asked for bread, she told us they were out of bread and if she would have known she would have stopped and picked some up on the way to work? We were placing our orders and were told that they were out of the Delmonico steak as well and she suggested a 75 steak instead? Two of our entrees arrive that were filet mignon undercooked, 1 was sent back and came back like hockey puck. The guy that was singing was trying to engage the crowd and walk around. I put a song request and 20 on the piano as he indicated he could do different songs. Took the money, never sang the song, then went on a break. Needless to say overall, being in customer service, the managers should do a better job on ordering food to keep up with demand. It was a Saturday night at 6pm and we were coming for a fine dining experience. Also quality check for temperature of the steaks. I cancelled my steak because it was taking so long and everyone else was well into their meal. It was a beautiful little hidden gem restaurant and needs a little more oversight. I would definitely go again and order what my mom had:-) please just set a nice tone from the beginning, a positive start and smiling goes...
