Yesterday was the last time we will be going to Adventures. We have been there around ten times over the past 3+ years of living in Biloxi. We had to learn the hard way initially that smoking is allowed in restaurants in Biloxi and that we shouldn't sit at the bar if we don't want to share the smoke with the chain smokers.
When we have been able to get someone to pay attention to us and take our drink and food orders, we have found that the food is delicious. The problem is that - EVEN WHEN THERE ARE ONLY A FEW CUSTOMERS THERE - the servers and bartenders tend to completely ignore us! I understand that when it's really, really busy, we might have to wait for someone to have a minute to take our order. But we have given up and walked out several times after waiting 20 to 30 minutes to get someone to take just our drink order, probably five times out of the ten or so times we have tried to eat there.
Yesterday, we decided to give it one more try because we know how good the food is if we can get someone to take our order. Only three or four tables had people eating and only one or two people were sitting at the bar. When we walked in, we were told to sit anywhere. One of the female servers came over immediately, gave us menus, silverware and napkins, and took our drink orders. She brought the drinks so quickly that we still needed a minute to decide what to eat. That "minute" turned into half an hour. She simply never returned to our table or even looked our way again. She also had to be summoned by people at two of her tables who had been waiting a very long time for their checks so they could pay and leave.
We finally waved over they guy who had started to clear off one of her tables and asked him to please get our check for the two drinks. He brought our check and didn't charge us for my iced tea - just for my husband's beer. The total charge was $9.54, so my husband left a $10 bill and we departed, hungrier than when we arrived and vowing never to return.
We then went to Wahoo's (on the Back Bay behind/attached to the Palace Casino). What an immense difference in service! A young female server immediately came to our table with menus and took our drink order. We were ready to order food when she brought the drinks, so she took our food order. The hot, delicious food was brought by a friendly young man. Our server came to our table several times to check if everything was okay, etc.
We will definitely be returning to Wahoo's! We hope that other people don't experience the same level of exceptionally poor service we have experienced at Adventures...but I have a feeling we are not the only previous customers who simply can't overlook being ignored and not served too many times. A restaurant's food can be some of the most delicious in town, but if you can't get a server to take your order and bring the food,...
Read moreDefinitely more of a bar than a restaurant. It was quite smoky in there, and our clothes smelled smoky afterwards. Also, the smoke was enough to irritate your lungs if you're a nonsmoker. But, you should expect that at a bar. Ordered pig wings and cheese bites for appetizers. Cheese bites were pretty good. Pig wings tasted fine with ranch, but they were more of a novelty that I wouldn't order again. Ordered Juicy Lucy, oyster po boy, chicken tenders, crab claws app, and chicken cordon bleu wrap for main entrees. The Juicy Lucy wasn't impressive to my wife. She ordered it well done, and all of the cheese exited the middle of the two patties. So, it really didn't taste cheesy at all, and it was fairly greasy. Sweet potato fries for the side were good, though. My daughter got the chicken tenders. The portion was very large, but we noticed that a couple of tenders weren't fully cooked. The waitress comped us the chicken tenders for that mistake, and there were enough cooked ones left. My mother in law's crab claws had a little bit more of a fishy taste than she's used to, so she wasn't as happy with them. Portion size was large for the price though. My father in law's oyster po boy was a bit too large to eat, but he didn't seem to mind the taste. So, b if you get one, you'll want to cut it down first. The fries that came with it were really good though. My chicken cordon bleu wrap was pretty good. Chicken was grilled and fully cooked, ham was smoked, and Swiss cheese was a good mix. Fries were again pretty good. I think overall I was the happiest of the group with my selection. It's not someplace that I would return to, but mostly because of the smoke. The lung irritation was distracting to the dining experience, and there is no place to sit where you're not going to have smoke (two people at the table behind us were smoking as well as about half the restaurant). The photography on the walls is quite striking though. Many of the shots were amazing and lived up to the restaurant's...
Read moreI usually do not write negative reviews, however this is the first time I have been here to eat. the food was good. BUT the service was definitely NOT. Had this woman moved any slower, she would have been at a full stop. When she FINALLY decided to come take our order, we ordered a simple lunch of royal reds and fish and chips with tartar sauce. We got our food and she said they were out of tartar sauce, but making more. I said ok, no problem. And she walks away. So, I wait, nibbling on fries, and wait, and wait, and finally I was able to get her attention and asked Is the tartar sauce nearly done? At this point my food is nearly cold. She says, Oh no, that wont be ready for awhile. I looked at my boyfriend kind of like Why didnt she say that before?? She goes back to languidly pouring tea into something and I literally had to ask Well, could I get some cocktail sauce or SOMETHING??? Typically an experienced server would have offered that in the very beginning as soon as they found out they were out, but this woman acted as if and please forgive my french but she DGAF. So, she SLOW ROLLED her way to the kitchen and slow rolled her way back to finally bring me some cocktail sauce. At that point I really wanted to say, to hell with this, take the food back and we will just go somewhere that actually wants our business, but my boyfriend convinced me to at least try to enjoy my now cold food. (Funny thing is, HE is the one that normally gets mad at bad service, this is a 1st for me)He was kind enough to even leave a tip. But I would strongly suggest that she needs to be RETRAINED that treating people as if they were welcome, really helps when you work in a tipped based job. It also helps encourage repeat business. Which I will be not be part of. It was also NOT BUSY, so there was no excuse for us to wait forever for every little thing. I also directly msgd the business as opposed to putting up this review 1st. They recieved it, read it, and...
