Shores Restaurant — Restaurant in Birch Bay

When we arrived there was no one to greet us but a sign that says wait to be seated...so we waited and waited and waited. The restaurant had maybe 5 tables of people and we waited over 5 mins just to be acknowledged. We we're seated and the waitress acted almost nervous, like she didn't know how to talk to people. It was almost awkward. She said she was going to look for a kids menu. Again we waited over ten mins before she came back to our table, said she was still looking for kids menus but she'd take our drink order. A second waitress came by and brought our drinks and said she would take our order, she said she couldn't find kids menus either and started telling us what was on there. We just said he was going to order breakfast off the reg. menu, and my husband and I ordered steak sandwiches, you can turn them into phillies and specify what you want on them. We ordered white cheese, peppers and onions and fries, both orders the exact same. Several mins later the first waitress came back and handed me a kids menu and said are you ready to order...seriously? Anyways...the orders were brought and both sandwich orders were wrong, she brought plain turkey sandwiches and we had no silverware. Again we waited and waited and waited for someone to come check on us so we could get things corrected but no one was coming by. My husband had to get up and walk to the bar, two girls were standing back there talking and my husband said that our food order was wrong and we had no silverware one girl looked up and just said "okay" then looked back down. He stood there for a sec and nothing was happening. He came back to our table and we left decided to get up and leave. It was the most ridiculous experience in my life! I will never step in there again nor recommend this place. The wait staff are the dumbest I've ever...

I would say I was shocked at how high the prices have gotten in ALL of Birch Bay restaurants. It's insane! We were having a wknd out away from the kids n we're staying at a VRBO so we did takeout for burgers. We asked for basic changes on them as one of us has dietary restrictions, (we just needed a plain burger) for THAT MUCH 💲, I would expect the orders to be accurate at least. I couldn't even eat it as both items were completely opposite of what we ordered. My partner ate his though unhappily as he doesn't want to waste a $. I couldn't eat mine at all. I get we are all short staffed (I've been covering for multiple people at my job for months so I get it, n I'm absolutely NOT mad at our order taker, n don't want them to get in trouble that's not the reason for the post ..) However the prices are exorbitant and crazy for orders that you can't take back cause your on the go. Please in the future DOUBLE check ALL to go orders for accuracy BEFORE they leave, it's just too much 💲 to waste. (We should have as well, so part of the blame is on us n we accept that 😉) Also consider that many here are locals and your prices are insane on many items and while you may cater to mostly tourists, I'm sure the locals during off season would appreciate a menu that reflects you understand the hardships we are ALL facing as we ALL KNOW our local wages are NOT 🚫 n I mean NOT going up with inflation rates n we would all like to support our local restaurants, but with prices like that it makes it almost impossible to do on...

Server tonight was either high, or incompetent, or both. After sitting for ten minutes without being greeted, we had to walk to the kitchen to ask the server to serve us. (We had been traveling all day and my young son was hungry.) She had four other tables - not busy. She just either didn’t care, or didn’t care to notice us.

We had to ask three times for our drink order. She told us we didn’t order it the first time around. (Who tells a customer they’re wrong?!!) The salad was served with the wrong dressing and it took several more minutes to get the correct one. The steak ordered medium rare was delivered well done. The vegetable medley was obviously from a cheap frozen bag and inedible.

We were not approached once after the meal was delivered, or asked how the meal was until after we had paid. She never once apologized for anything. We had to flag her down for everything we needed, including the bill, and then she walked away from us while we were asking for it!

$100 for dinner should be a much more enjoyable experience. We would have tipped 20-25% if we had been even decently taken care of.

It’s obvious this establishment puts no emphasis on proper hiring or training. It looks like the locals in the bar were well taken care of and happy but it seems that vacationing patrons are not respected at all. Unacceptable. Will...
