For my thirteenth birthday, I ordered a cake from here. Simple enough, right? And it should've been an easy task for whoever was making it. I just wanted a big blue flower on the top left of the rectangular cake, with many little blue flowers identical to the largest one. It would say 'happy birthday' to the right, and, in my imagination, would look really nice. Obviously I set my expectations too high. First of all, it wasn't even the right blue. The blue that I wanted was like the blue color of the sky, almost like that. However, the only three flowers on the cake were a dark teal, along with the ugly little border that went with it. You know how I mentioned that there were only three flowers? Yeah. They were the ugliest thing on the cake. The flowers themselves, like the petals, were stationary on the cake. What I wanted was a big, blooming flower to pop out, but no. Just three pathetic little flowers stuck to the cake like they'd been smooshed into it. The only part that 'popped out' was the stamen, and guess what? They were just as awfully made as everything else. Some of them were even falling over. I know what you're saying; "Maybe you just didn't give them a good description!" We told them that we just wanted lots of flowers on the top left, and that one of them had to be big. The rest they could do themselves. If that doesn't sound good on our part, let me tell you this; We gave them a picture of the flower that we specifically wanted on the cake. It had the color that they got wrong, it had the stamen that were naturally flowing out instead of just poking out like a bunch of sad icing sticks, and it had the leaves that were a weird jungle-green compared to the light green of the real flowers. I could've gotten a better cake at Publix, to be honest. Don't get a cake personally made here. Whatever you think, it's a bad idea. I know my family is never ordering cakes there ever again, and you...

Cakes tastes good, but decorations super suck royally... both times I got a Birthday cake made they debotcherized all my decorations. If there is a certain decoration they cannot do they should tell you... never going back! And furthermore they wanted to try and compensate me with a $10 giftcard for a $35 cake and say there is nothing else they can do. No one wants a cake that looks like trash, I don't care how much buttercream you put on it! My husband literally expressed his dislike for the cake and was not rude to staff. I wish that the camera footage could be shared or how they tried to slide him the cake without showing it to him. If you just wanted our money we understand, but you should always send your customers out the door happy. When you don't care what you product looks like and send it out the door just for the dollar, that's when you have customers like me who will bring it back... I was not rude or loud with anyone, I politely asked for my money back and sat down waiting on the manager Brent to call me back. Which he never did. While waiting the employees rolled their eyes at me and were rude, they even got two customers orders wrong while I was sitting there. Policy is once you leave out the door, nothing can be done, so IF you decide to spend your money here, you better make sure this is completely satisfactory before you leave out. There are much better bakeries in Birmingham, who have better customer service as well. This place...

First of all, let me say I've been going over in my mind what type of shindig I could plan just to use this location. I think it's so posh and adorable! And the patio is quaint and intimate. I'm sure you already know how famous and delicious their strawberry cake is, so I'll review something else. I've tried their quesadilla here, and it's rather yummy. It's a nice serving size and it comes with your choice of a side, which I always select the fruit salad. That's the pro side.

The con: I've ordered a strawberry floral birthday cake from this location on two separate occasions. The first time I got what I ordered. The 2nd time, I did not. The 2nd time I received only a strawberry cake with white writing on it. Huge difference as you can see in the pictures. I wasn't able to pick the cake up personally, so a friend did it for me. After I checked it out and saw that it wasn't correct, I immediately called them. To make this short, after being asked to drive to PELHAM just so that store could fix the problem(downtown location was getting ready to close) and after telling the lady on the phone I wasn't doing that, she offered a $10 gift card or a $10 refund on the wrong cake. While I do truly appreciate the lady trying to help, a $10 gift card was not going to fix my cake. Sorry. The cake was delicious, as it always is, but I was still disappointed in not getting...

Edgar's Bakery is a nice small bakery hidden away in the financial district in downtown Birmingham. The bakery had cute Auburn and Bama themed cookie sets on a Friday, perfect for the Saturday games. They also have freshly baked cookies, cupcakes and cakes. I ended up deciding on getting a chocolate square and a vanilla cupcake and both were so good. My only suggestion would be to label the cupcakes for their flavor. Of course chocolate and vanilla are easy to distinguish form others but they had a few other flavors that I didn't know for sure what they were. Anyway, very cute and great bakery!!

I used to get the veggie melt sandwich which tasted good but always came to me soggy, so I switched to the pimiento cheese. It's normally alright but today it came to me pretty rough today (photo shows the messiness of the bottom of the sandwich and a random shmear of pesto?). I had limited time for lunch today so no chance to speak to anyone about it at the store. In general for the food, it comes out fast but the quality isn't always that great. I eat it because it is in a convenient location, though. Also the cashier Stacey is super sweet.

Edgar's is an excellent stop for a downtown brunch! I had tried their baked goods before, which were phenomenal. Came in today for a breakfast wrap and holy moly it did not disappoint. My cohorts all got different items and everyone enjoyed their food in the VERY clean fast casual setting. The kitchen is open to the customer, and it's so clean you really feel like you're gonna get a great meal. If you go, try the "Jamaican me Crazy," coffee. 5 stars will go again.
