The Roof — Restaurant in Birmingham

The rooftop and environment is a 10/10, one of our favorite places in bham. The sad part is the drinks, they’re identical to college bar drinks. Poorly made, mixed, given to you in small plastic cubs like a party bar. We were always fine with this because they’re $10, so be it for the view. A few months ago they did a 40% (?!) price increase. Drinks are now $14 for the quality of a $5 drink. They are priced as a speciality cocktail bar despite being able to order the same drink 3 times and they all taste different. This has turned us off. You can go to Elyton and get drinks for the same price that are genuinely crafted cocktails. Redmont has no competitive advantage anymore which is so sad. They should be the superior roof option but seem to have given up! The furniture is also completely falling apart and many couch backs...

I heard good things about this place and decided to check it out over the weekend. Was extremely disappointed with the prices, drinks, and atmosphere. I ordered a 10-12 dollar old fashioned which came in a plastic cup. For a nice hotel and the price of drinks, I would have expected a rocks glass and ice that didn’t look like came from Milos. Old fashioneds are hard to mess up but was sorely mistaken. The first thing that comes to mind is if a wet and dirty mop had a taste, this would be it. I went with another person who also described their drink as extremely underwhelming. The overall atmosphere and drinks made it feel like a run down dive bar. My husband and I visited the Rooftop Bar on May 29 2018 The male bartender was not very friendly. They did not have a single Pinot Noir. This was about 6:00 on a Sat evening. There is a bar downstairs. I'm sure they could have got wine from there. Also the female bartender looked like she had just rolled out of bed. She had her hair ontop of her head in a terrible looking bun. She just looked very unkept. We tried to pay our bill outside. They told us to go inside. We went inside.
