I really don’t like writing negative reviews, but this was so ridiculous that it couldn’t go unnoticed. I rate Edgar’s Bakery a 2.5. Why you ask?..
Well I have been a consistent customer of Edgar’s Bakery since September 2006, with ordering custom cakes no less than twice a year. Throughout this 6 years the first 2 1/2 years where grand, I never had a problem with variations in pricing, art work or etc. After that I started experiencing inconsistency in pricing from one location to the next. Which majority of the time those request would be at the same location, sometimes I ran into one person telling me they couldn’t do and the next person actually doing it, with presenting the cake design to the same cake designer; in which the designs were not at all challenging. Don’t give me a ridiculous price to run me away because you don’t know, because that is not at all professional nor is it good for business. In my opinion ether you can or can’t do there’s no in between. Here’s a price quote that recently received “and might I add is a silly, outrageous & ridiculous price”.
“Thanks for contacting us, I thought I would send you a quick email with your price quote. For the cupcakes to match the picture you sent us, the ones with the yellow bow would be $25.00 for each cupcake, each bow is hand made out of fondant. The other ones, are also hand made out of fondant with several layers of fondant on each one , they would also be $25.00 a cupcake.
For the cake, everything would be in fondant and have to be in fondant. There is 3 ducks on the cake so they would be $20.00 each, which would be $60.00. There is 12 blocks on the cake , those would be $15.00 each , which would be $180.00. It is $25.00 to cover the cake in fondant, then $15.00 for the fondant stripes around the sides of the cake. So it would be the cost of the cake plus a $280.00 artwork fee.”
with a grand total of $627.00 for a "8" round and 12 cupcakes
"Very condescending message" So with sharing this if there’s something that you are requesting outside of Polk Dots & butterflies, this isn’t the...
Read moreTasty food, but unhappy with the service. I purchased a large sheet cake. When I arrived to pick it up, the girl explained that it would need to travel in the floorboard of my car or in the trunk. I knew I would have trouble traveling with such a large cake, but I was confident that I could make something work. I pulled my car up to the door having left the AC on full blast for quite a while to keep the cake as cool as possible in the heat. I explained that it would not fit in my floorboard and I was certainly not putting a cake in a hot trunk. I asked for some cardboard box from the garbage or anything that could help build up a flat surface to rest the cake so that it would not break. No, they could not give me cardboard. I asked again for anything and she got her manager. I asked again for some extra cake boards or any cardboard to build a flat surface but instead I was told by the manager that they are not responsible for what happens to the cake in transit. The manager said the cake was sitting on a cake board and sitting inside a cake box but that it would need to be placed on a flat surface so it wouldn't break. Again I asked for extra cake boards or extra cake box bottoms for support, and I was told, "no ma'am, that's the best it's going to get." So I spent a few minutes taking anything and everything I could find in my car to make a flat-as-possible surface for the cake to ride. Nobody even offered to help me carry it out to my car. I paid nearly $100 for this cake. It was good, but there are others in town that are just as good if not better. I'm finding another bakery for my...
Read moreI used to brag on Edgar’s King Cake being better than any back home in Louisiana. But the quality has unfortunately declined. The King Cakes are now flat and dry. Don’t waste your money on one. Buy a thumbprint cookie instead cause it’s the only thing lately hasn’t disappointed from there. Also the cinnamon rolls! But these King Cakes I received were a disgrace. I ordered them fresh and when I picked them up they were flat and looked old. The sugar topping was moist and sticking to the cellophane. Maybe reconsider your packaging method…🤔. Anyway I didn’t say anything because I was being them that afternoon to the birthday party. I was thinking they don’t look pretty but at least they’ll taste good. Big mistake! HUGE! They were wet and sticky on the outside and dry on the inside. Definitely won’t be bragging on Edgar’s for a while. Very disappointing to say the least. I don’t mind paying more for a King Cake but Edgar’s… you’re not worth it anymore. If you’re looking for a King Cake next year BHAM, just go to Publix or Winn Dixie cause it’ll be cheaper and taste better.
And yes I was petty enough to break out the...
