We took my Mom to Village Tavern to celebrate her birthday this weekend. Initially, it was kind of awkward because the ladies at the hostess desk looked at us like we shouldn't have been there and didn't want to seat our party of 11 -- 5 adults and 6 teens. We didn't have an issue with being separated because teens don't mind sitting by themselves. The issue was that they made us feel like we'd done something wrong just by showing up. My cousin called ahead of time to make reservations but they said they don't reserve tables for parties. When we got to our tables there was a table closer to us that we found out was already reserved. So much for no reservations🤔 Anyway, by the time we got settled and had our appetizers and mimosas, everyone was relaxed. The food was really good, our waiter was wonderful (wish I could remember his name), and it was a good experience overall. Several people came over to greet my mom for her birthday. We even met the chef! They brought out this HUGE cheesecake with happy birthday and her name spelled out!!! I thought the warm butter cake was their specialty until I tasted the best cheesecake I've ever had -- literally melts in your mouth 🥰 There were a couple things that made this experience really special for us. Number one, my mom just turned 70!!! Number two, this is the first time she's celebrated her birthday since my father passed 2 years ago. He actually died the day before her birthday so she hasn't really been in the spirit to celebrate life. I'm just happy things ended better than they started. You never know what people are going through. Facial expressions and silence really can make you feel unwelcome. I consider the hostess and wait staff part of a restaurant's front line. They set the tone for your dining experience. If we had left Village Tavern, just based on how the hostesses reacted to our being there, my Mom's day would have been ruined😣 Thank God everyone else...
Read moreThe Summit Birmingham, is a beautiful outdoor shopping destination with a lot to offer. From the moment you arrive, the upscale vibe is apparent, with well-maintained landscaping, a clean environment, and plenty of parking options. The location is convenient and provides easy access to a wide variety of stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues, making it a great spot for a day out.
The variety of shops is impressive, ranging from high-end boutiques to popular mainstream stores, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for clothing, home goods, or specialty items, The Summit delivers. The restaurant scene is equally diverse, offering casual dining options as well as upscale eateries. Dining here feels like an experience, especially with several places featuring outdoor seating that lets you enjoy the lively atmosphere.
Customer service throughout the shopping center is generally good, with store employees being friendly and helpful. The overall ambiance is relaxing and inviting, with plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
However, I’m giving The Summit 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple of reasons. First, the layout can be a bit challenging to navigate, especially for first-time visitors. Some areas feel disconnected, requiring extra walking or driving to access certain shops or restaurants. Second, during peak times, parking near popular spots can be a hassle, even though the parking areas are spacious.
Despite these minor drawbacks, The Summit remains a fantastic place to shop, dine, or simply spend time with friends and family. The combination of a great selection of stores, a pleasant atmosphere, and an overall clean and safe environment makes it a must-visit destination...
Read moreJust had a really negative experience with the security staff. Me and a friend were skateboarding here as we have in the past. I have even had conversations with one of the security members while doing so and they never said it was a problem. While we were skating, we had a guard come up to us in a golf cart who politely told us that we could not skatebaord here. Ok, that's kinda weird but no big deal. The guard told us that we had to leave but we could skate back to our cars and tell any other security that he said it was cool we are leaving. We get back on our boards and start skating back when a guard pulls in front us abruptly in an SUV. And had we been somewhat new skaters we would have crashed right into him injuring ourselves. This guard told us we had to leave NOW. He also told us that he didn't care what the other guy said we had to walk back. He then tailed us the whole way to our car. He was very rude and could have hurt someone. If this is a normal occurrence as it seems to be in the reviews that is a problem and could result in serious injury at the fault...
