Lincoln Yard/little yard — Restaurant in Birmingham

I tried Lincoln yard for the first time earlier this week with my two daughters. We had a wonderful time. Service was excellent. I was so impressed by how Kid friendly the restaurant was. So much so that we returned Saturday night with my husband. I made a reservation for 545. We had a nice meal but at 6:45. Our server said the host is just told me people are waiting for your table and you guys need to get going. I was shocked. I’ve never been asked to leave a restaurant after being there for only an hour while my daughter is still eating. He said the hostess told him to say that Why he would say that to me I’m not sure? I asked the hostess why she was asking us to leave. She mumbled something I asked for a manager. The manager never came over so as we were leaving a few minutes later, I stopped at the hostess and said so there’s no manager here I had asked for her to come over. The manager was standing there and said oh I’m the manager I did didn’t know you wanted me to come over. I explained the situation she could clearly not care at all said she’d talk to the employees later. Asked me if there was anything she should do about it. Clearly, this place needs some more seasoned educated employees. I’m sad because I really love this place but I’m not sure I can go back after being treated like that. Let me start off by saying I usually love Union restaurants. Grand Castor is one of my favorites. I was so excited to try this location. It’s close to home and they are open earlier than most Union restaurants. We made reservations to play it safe since it’s only been open for a couple weeks. Walking in you get your usual a Union vibes. Smells good and looks good. We were sat without wait. The waitress came about 5 minutes after the whole party arrived. She was nice but didn’t seem to know much about the food on the menu. My husband ordered a non alcoholic beer that was $11. It took awhile to get the drinks. We ordered the Pane Cacio bread for the table. It looked and smelled delicious but the bread was soggy and the taste was meh. The food took forever. My husband and I split the burger and lobster Mac and cheese. The burger was pretty good. I definitely think I got the bottom of the bag for the French fries. The Mac and cheese was okay. I thought I would taste the lobster more but honestly it tasted just like their regular Mac and cheese. Overall the experience was disappointing. Food very good. Our server was terribly rude and lied to us about the bill. She brought the itemized check. All was well. Gave her my CC. She brought it back and charged us $11 more than the check. We flagged her down and asked for the itemized check back. She said no. We wouldn’t take no for an answer, but she came back to the table two more times to say the charges were correct but without the check. Finally she brought it but she ripped the paper where the total was so we couldn’t see! Absolutely wild! But we can still do addition so it’s clear something very odd is going on. She then proceeds to run around the restaurant for 20 minutes trying to find anyone but the manager to void the initial charges. It doesn’t work. We wait. Finally she gets the manager to fix this. The manager returns to our table and apologizes for the confusion. We tell her all the things that had gone down, and while she thanks us for telling her and apologizes again for the mistake, she doesn’t appear to be all that concerned that her staff is straight up lying to customers.
