I had the most life changing experience at Custard and Co. I’m a 90s kid, and back in the day, Dairy Queen had a coating called “crunch coat”, and then got rid of it in 2000s… anyway…

I’m from out of town and rolled up here with my friend, convincing me this is the best soft serve place in Detroit. I was skeptical because I am a SSS (soft serve snob)!! I walk up to the window and i inquire about the toppings. I’m informed of their selection, they have sprinkles and a toasted almond crunch. Immediately I am taken back to my childhood memories of crunch coat. I asked if they could do half and half or mix the two, and the girl agreed she could try to do it.

She did. And my adulthood has been transformed. This was hands down the best freaking soft serve I have ever had and will have in my entire life. I will be coming back tomorrow for the largest version possible before I get on my plane back home. This was so good I couldn’t maintain a conversation with my friend because I kept reliving the experience. No exaggeration. I’ll probably dream about this place tonight.

I am your biggest fan, please build one in Memphis, TN !!! And also HIGHLY consider making your own ‘crunch coat’ because people will go...

I've been coming to this custard joint since I was a kid. Now I take my kid here. A underappreciated local gem, with fantastic frozen custard.

-Edit: I went there tonight, and the normal staff wasn't working. The woman working refused to take the same card I always use, so I used another and asked her to round up to 10.00 even, and she charged me 10.69. HOWEVER, even with that negative interaction as we were walking back to sit down and eat our custard, my son slipped and spilled his chocolate custard everywhere. I made sure he was ok, and just when I was losing my patience with him, a man (I'm assuming the owner) walked up to us and replaced his custard with a smile. Changing an entirely negative interaction to a positive one.

There is nothing like walking/ riding a bike or even a nice car ride to your local frozen custard place. I take my dog here all the time! It is a great place to meet with friends or your loved ones for a little frozen custard. You can’t be that upset when you are enjoying their creations. I find it is best to share... in my mind the calories don’t count then. 😂 but really there are lots of local ice cream places right by here but I prefer this one. The frozen custard is that much better. I prefer to get a little exercise to get there because it makes it that much more enjoyable but you can get there how ever you want as long as you go! If you have not been here you need to go to taste...
