Heartbreaking Experience During an Already Difficult Time
My son has been a patient at the children’s hospital next to this McDonald’s for six and a half weeks. On this particular day, I wanted to do something small to lift his spirits — just grab him a 10-count nugget meal as a break from hospital food. It was raining, and while I try to remain sympathetic toward the homeless population, what I experienced inside this McDonald’s was incredibly disappointing.
There were three or four individuals occupying booths, keeping out of the rain, which I understand. What I wasn’t prepared for was being directly approached and asked for money while I was simply trying to order food for my son. We’re all dealing with challenges, but there’s a time and place, and this made an already difficult day much harder.
To make matters worse, I waited nearly 15 minutes for my order while several employees sat in booths on their phones. They may have been on break — that’s their business — but it was frustrating to see that while customers were waiting. The self-serve area was messy, the soda machines weren’t working, and there were no condiments available.
The final blow came when I finally got the food: the nuggets were so overcooked my son couldn’t eat them, and the fries were cold from the start. I hadn’t even made it back to the hospital room yet — they were cold right out of the bag.
This was a deeply discouraging experience during an already emotional and exhausting time. The smell, the state of the restaurant, and the poor food quality made what should have been a simple gesture of comfort feel like a mistake. I don’t want to cause problems for the staff or the local homeless community — I understand that everyone’s facing struggles. But it’s not acceptable to approach paying customers for money inside the restaurant, and the quality of service and food here was not up to any reasonable standard.
I took a couple of respectful photos to document the condition of the store — not to shame anyone — but to express just how let down I felt. I doubt I’ll be returning to this location, and honestly, it may be a while before I step into a...
Read moreWorst McDonald's ever, especially night shift. Corporate should seriously consider stepping in and either hiring all new workers, or shutting it down completely, as it is the location closest to their flagship "Ronald McDonald House" and the children's and uab hospitals. At the VERY LEAST, all night hours should be done away with and closed because their night shift staff costs them more money than they make and is definitely a liability to the business. Literally the WORST example of management and service for even a below average fast-food business. Their quality and service is the exact opposite image such a McDonald's should want to put out. The workers do not want to work (what they are paid to do), and will in fact blatantly lie to you in order to keep from doing so. The sanitary conditions are absolutely appalling and their treatment of customers is something worthy of the BBB stepping in to do something about. Seriously, this McDonald's should be shut down. This should not be the case with any business in the customer service industry, but when I grade any McDonald's, I do so on a curve because I naturally expect them to be on a lower tier when compared to any other fast food restaurant, yet this one still deserves negative stars when considering that. If this is the image McDonald's corporation would like to show it's customers, then they deserve to go out of business because this place is absolutely horrendous and an embarrassment to even the McDonald name. Inexcusable and borderline criminal, if not...
Read moreI don’t think I’ve ever been to a rude McDonald’s Location like this one. We had a mobile order that we wanted to pick up we drove to the speaker and waited for at least 5 minutes saying hello and no one came . So we decided to drive to the window, before we could even say anything the cashier handed us a ticket and closed the window in our faces. We looked at the ticket and noticed it wasn’t ours because like I said before we didn’t even have enough time to let the cashier know what our code was. We drive up to the next window and we are trying to explain to them that the ticket that was handed to us wasn’t our food because we never got a chance to give the cashier our code for our mobile order. So now at this point they are telling us it is our order and we’re trying to tell them it’s not! So some girl from the back comes to the window asking the other employees what did we have and they’re saying they don’t know. (Not sure if she was a manager or a team member). So she asks us so we tell her sooooo she then decides to get real agitated ,irritated jumps up and down and throws her arms up in the air and say’s (y’all gone have to drive back around and get in the line again). When we just wanted to know could they pull the order while we were at the window and we could pull down and just wait on our food. But that wasn’t the case. I’ve been to this location for breakfast/lunch multiple times and the service and food is always top tier . But on this night for dinner it was...
