A facility this big and no real parking? Who was in charge of this design?
Catch as catch can for free street parking within a reasonable distance. Several questionable people around will tell you to park in places designated as No Parking and then charge you $15. Hope your car is there (without a ticket) when you return. So far, no issues, but it still stresses me out every time. More secure parking would bump this review up a star.
CASHLESS VENUE, so make sure you have a card. Food and drink prices are as expected for any venue like this. As of Aug 2023, beer is $8-9.25, hot dog $4, chicken and fries $12, 8" PJ pizza $9. Highly recommend the Philly at the standalone grill. Long wait, but very worth it. Big, delicious, $12. Whatever your choice, get your food fast before they run out of what you want. (Pizza sold out before the game even started! Ketchup was also empty.) All lines moved relatively quickly.
Get your ID checked at the standalone kiosk before standing in line for alcohol.
Alcohol sales stop at the bottom of the 7th inning.
Games go fairly quickly with new timer rules. Hope to see them win someday. Fireworks after the game are always nice...
Read moreMy sister got us tickets through her job and we went on a Saturday night. The Birmingham Barons were playing against the Jackson Generals. I'm not really into baseball, but I enjoyed myself. Not only was the game entertaining, but the stuff they do in between innings was fun to watch as well. No one was sitting in there actual seat that was printed on the ticket. You can pretty much sit wherever in your section if there's not a lot of people. The fire alarm went off and it took the announcer a while to let everyone know it was a false alarm. The only things I didn't like was that there are 3 concession stands and 1 of the 3 sells food items (like fries & bbq sandwich) that the other 2 don't which made the lines long. Also, most of the stalls in the women's restroom have broken locks on the door. Parking is $10 unless you're able to find a free place to park on the street a few...
Read moreBEAUTIFUL BALLPARK. Well laid out without a bad seat in the place. We went on dollar hot dog night but you can also enjoy other food and beverages including a full bar located behind the outfield. There are several choices for seating for general admission, including picnic type tables near well manicured grassy areas where kids were having a blast. You can walk around the entire ballpark on the inside, with post card views of the city skyline and Red Mountain the usual stadium chairs or stand up rails The most charming thing about this place is the 7th inning wave. Instead of the traditional baseball 7th inning stretch, in the middle of the seventh inning all players and fans turn and wave to the kids at Alabama Children's Hospital. It's a big city feeling ballpark with just the right amount of a small-town touch.... which also to me...
