I originally ranked Teds as 4 stars but I am changing it to 2 for the following reason:

Today, I am choosing to no longer go to Ted's for breakfast. I have been coming here off and on for a little over 6 months and recommending the breakfast to co-workers since we work in walking distance. The food is great but what is frustrating is that every time I order a Sausage Egg and Cheese sandwich, the price has been different ranging any price between $2.50 and $5.50. What was the "last straw" today is that I was charged almost $7 for a breakfast sandwich! No side or drink, just a sandwich. I confirmed, and asked "Are you sure that this is the price for a sandwich?!". I was told that the prices have changed and she claimed that it was because I had two eggs and a meat. I didn't ask for two eggs. I wasn't even aware that there was a price difference for the number of eggs that you get. What is even more frustrating is that when I got back to my desk and looked on the website(as of 5/15/2019), the price for SANDWICHES ON TOAST OR BISCUIT specifically Egg and Bacon OR Sausage is $3.90. Please explain to me how a breakfast sandwich can go from what should have been $4.29, if you add tax, to almost $7.00. I am extremely disappointed and feel like I have been taken advantage of and that the prices depend on whoever is at the cash register and their mood for the day. Because of these inconsistencies, I will no longer recommend Teds to others for breakfast because you never know what you are...

First time eating here and I will definitely return. I know now why the parking lot is always full. The Mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy, the collards were fresh and seasoned just right, the fried green tomatoes had just the perfect amount of crunch and were amazing. They had run out of cornbread, so I got one of the Parker house rolls and it was soft and still warm enough to melt butter on the inside. I did not have any room left for dessert unfortunately. I love that the menu changes daily. 50+ years of business and I can see why. The staff were so friendly and seemed happy to be there, which is not something you see many places anymore. This is a Birmingham staple. I have always passed by on my way to UAB and it's always closed bc they serve lunch. If you've never been, it's cafeteria style, you pick from several choices of meat and veggies or you can just get a vegetable plate as I did today. I cannot give this enough stars. It was just great and a good way to end my adventure downtown today. The restrooms are small. If you use a wheelchair, there's no getting in there, the doorway is just not large enough. But, there's plenty of room to navigate the line for food and find a spot at the end of one of the booths. I would just choose a time closer to the end of the lunch rush. There were 2 handicap parking spots close to the front door and the parking lot is completely flat except for the overflow spots...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ted's Restaurant, a southern eatery in Birmingham Alabama. The cafeteria-style setup added a touch of nostalgia to the dining experience, and it was a delight to see Ted, the actual owner, actively involved in serving the food and ensuring that guests were having a wonderful time.

I indulged in their famous fried chicken and for the sides, I had brussel sprouts and rice with gravy. I thought my meal was great, it definitely reflects a true southern comfort food. It was a hearty and satisfying meal that left me craving for more.

To top it off, I couldn't resist trying their banana pudding for dessert, and it was a heavenly treat. The creamy pudding, layered with slices of ripe banana was a true indulgence that satisfied my sweet tooth.

The service at Ted's Restaurant was exceptional, and Shirley, our server, played a significant role in making our experience memorable. She was incredibly welcoming and hospitable, ensuring that we felt right at home. Moreover, Ted's presence added a personal touch, as he actively interacted with guests and checked on their satisfaction.

If I live around that area, I might consider it as my go to places to eat. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Ted's Restaurant for an authentic southern dining experience that combines delicious food, and...

We were on the way to gulf shores and were in need of a place to eat for lunch. My husband is a lover of diners, so when I saw Ted’s appear on our google search I knew we found our place. From the moment we walked in until the time we left, we were shown hospitality. The staff were friendly and patient in helping us navigate the food options when ordering. The owner was super friendly and our kids were instant fans when conversation turned to talking about soccer with him. I would definitely recommend this place for those who want a meal that is reminiscent of eating at your southern grandparents house for Sunday lunch. For meat we had the baked chicken and tilapia. Sides ordered were macaroni and cheese, zucchini and squash medley, corn bread, potatoes, and a coconut cream pie. It was all very good, comfort food that kids and adults alike enjoyed. We were going to stop again on our way home, but timing wise it didn’t work out. Hopefully next time around we will be able to stop back in:)
