When I first moved to Bismarck in March, the first place I applied to was The Blarney Stone Pub. I had not been in the restaurant/service business in 20 years. I was nervous, but the general manager, Sarah L and I clicked instantly and I was offered a serving position on the spot. My first few days of training were classroom style, then I had several shifts were I followed different servers, getting to know the ins and outs of the business. Everyone was very friendly and helpful during my training period, making me feel welcome. Many guests I served were frequent regulars, and they too welcomed me to Bismarck and the pub. I have been working my way through the menu, trying different items in our very large menu. My favorites, and which I always recommend to our guests are: 👍 The Blarney Dip: Which I describe as an upgraded French Dip sandwich, served with our Rosie Gravy and perfectly seasoned with a garlic aoli. 👍 Steak Stroganoff: If you are a pasta lover like I am, this is a definite must-try. 👍 Irish Nachos: You can choose from seasoned beef, chicken, or spicy black beans, and even do a half and half, served with nacho toppings, melted cheese, with sides of salsa and our famous Dublin Dip. 👍 Soups of the Day: My favorites are Tomato Basil Bisque (Mondays), Cheesy Chicken Tortilla (Wednesdays) and Knoephla (Saturdays AND Sundays, it's THAT good).
Also, there is so much opportunity for advancement! I have recently gone through bartender training and am loving all the new things I'm learning! We have cool and refreshing mixed drinks like the Celtic Cooler, the Popsicle, and the Irish Margarita! Also, we carry 30 different beers on tap, as well as 1919 Rootbeer!
Next time you are in the area, or even if you are local, make sure you stop in and grab an ice cold drink, one of my favorite entrees, and find me behind the bar are serving tables both on our open patio or inside our air-conditioned Authentic Irish...
Read moreI wish I was able to write a full review as this place looked really good, however that’s not the case for me. Wanting a good lunch, as soon as my wife and I walked in with our baby, we were stopped by an employee who told us we weren’t allowed in because you have to be 21 and up to enter…he was pointing to the fact that we had a baby with us, a baby. This is a pub but it also serves food as it has a whole menu and lots of seating away from the bar for eating. Keep in mind this is 12 o’clock on a Wednesday and we’re being denied entry for having a 7 month old baby with us. I know the food and drink industry and I know the rules. If there is food being served and a menu in place, this should have not been a “violation.” If you want to make an argument, most places would have a curfew of when they stop letting in underage customers which would be nighttime, and this was 12:00pm..but again we are talking about having lunch with our infant accompanying us. Maybe the employee didn’t want a baby in the restaurant, but still there were maybe only five other customers dining at the time. Looking back I should have inquired more or asked to speak with the manager but either way we were greatly let down, and slightly offended, as we were very excited to try some good authentic Irish food. That being said, if you have kids or even an infant, don’t bother coming in for lunch in the...
Read moreWhen this place first opened you couldn't keep me away. The spiced beer cheese with carrots and dark croutons, the bread they used for the lox, the hoegarrden guinness blend, they used to have pickled eggs with these juicy mouth bursting peppers. I got my glasses, my giftcards, my tshirt and hosted multiple parties 10-20 people every couple months even when I moved out of town... and then they got a new manager. I hosted my birthday and the 3 layer brownies I spent 9 hours making were turned away even though they were for staff and guests alike. That had never happened before. Since then it's slowly just taken everything I've loved about the place. First the Hoegarrden, then the good eggs with the peppers, the beer cheese replaced with kneophla that I can get literally everywhere else, and now the bread with the lox is rubbery, dry and has no flavor. I don't know what happened but I stopped going altogether. It used to be unique but now it feels like a franchised cash grab instead of a unique experience. There's also more than 20 Irish songs in existence, at this point the playlist is just offensive. I keep hoping it's a phase, but it keeps getting worse so I think the restaurant I loved was the phase and this is just...
